A popular base for exploring the scenic Olympic Peninsula, this small town is also famous as the setting of the popular Twilight book series.

The small city of Forks provides a great starting point from which to explore Olympic National Park. Make the most of the great outdoors with easy access to hiking and sport-fishing facilities, get familiar with local history or track down the famous locales from the Twilight book series.

Once reliant on logging and the timber industry, Forks is today a popular recreation destination. It’s located between the Olympic Mountains and the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. More than 200 miles of rivers cross the area. It is the forks in those rivers that gave the town its name. Hike nearby trails through thick forest or rent a mountain bike and pedal full-speed down steep, twisting slopes.

Forks is home to a National Parks Service Recreation Information Center. Pay a visit to the center and collect any information you may need to plan your outdoor adventures, including trail recommendations, tide information and weather reports.

The town has been propelled into the spotlight in recent years thanks to the popular Twilight book series. Tour the key locations from the book or join the celebrations at the annual Stephenie Meyer Day/Bella’s Birthday Weekend, which takes place in September.

Take a break from the great outdoors and immerse yourself in local culture and history. Visit the Forks Timber Museum at the southern end of town and travel back in time to the 1870s to learn about the history of the local timber industry. The museum is housed in a building constructed in 1990 by students from Forks High School.

The Shay locomotive engine is another historical highlight. Located at the northern end of town, this steam locomotive was built in 1930 and stands as a monument to the local logging industry.

Forks is located about an hour’s drive from Port Angeles. Public transportation is available between the two cities.

"It was cute and quirky and quiet. Had everything needed and host was very nice. The water pressure was pretty poor and made it hard to get a good shower. Also make sure to bring food as there is no stores or restaurants close."

Fantastic night
"I spent the day hiking in Olympic National Park. The lodge was a welcome confort at the end of the day. They upgraded my stay due to the rustic cabin i rented originally not being ready for the season. The upgrade was amazing. I would definitely stay again."

We drove from Mt. Hood to Olympic National Forest. The Dew Drop Inn was a good stopping point for our trip down the coast of Washington and Oregon. A great little hotel, ample parking, clean room, friendly woman at the check in counter.

Apparently people are not what they seem here... ;). Didn't run into any vampires, but had a lovely quick visit. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I'd come back.
