This was exactly as advertised, charming house a half a block from the ocean...convenient to Charleston for sightseeing and dining...would definitely stay here again!
Surprising cottage. Comfortable and nicely decorated leisure spaces. Excellent well equipped kitchen with modern appliances. We will rent this property again.
Property is nice - could do with a little freshening. Well equipped, good location. Beds not the greatest, but ok. Internet connection was terrible, which was rather inconvenient.
Excellent location with a lot of character. Inside was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the A/C worked great. I think it's been a while since the picture was taken. The ocean air is taking a toll on the outside paint and screen door. All agreed we would rent this place again.
Really well-appointed decor, as described & shown in photos. Post-hurricane stay, lots of surfing views from top porch. Property management highly attentive. 20/5 min. walk/bike ride to dining & grocery. Great books/games. Note 2 sets of stairs to beach, tiny master bathroom, and uneven floor transitions between rooms. New house construction adjacent lot, but local rules prohibit on federal holidays.
The house is directly across the street from the beach and good for a couple or small family. We found the space to be comfortable and the screened in porch was nice. The roof deck needs some love with the paint chipping everywhere and sadly the Adirondacks in the yard had lots of rusty screws and paint chipping as well. Not a safe spot for our son to sit. Also basics like hand soap wasn’t available in the kitchen.
The cottage was very cozy and perfect size for my husband, myself and 2 adult daughters. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen must have recently been updated--it was terrific. Refrigerator very roomy and awesome at making ice which is always a plus at the beach. Also, we did not touch the thermostat and although the house warmed up some during the day it quickly caught up in the evenings and sleeping was comfortable. I would make two minor suggestions: add a cheese grater and a sheet pan to the kitchen equipment. Otherwise it was well stocked. Would definitely book this cottage again. Very short walk to the beach across the street.
This is the cutest little cottage and is just steps away from the beach! It was the perfect size for myself and 2 girlfriends. We had everything we could have possibly needed. We did have a slight issue with the AC upon arrival (which we completely understand - things do happen), but we contacted the property manager, Scott gave us a couple of options, and I received a phone call first thing the next morning to check on things and to follow up with a solution. They went over and beyond and we couldn't have asked for better customer service. Our only complaint was that we had to leave and head back to the real world from our perfect little getaway! We would absolutely recommend the Sandcrab!
Absolutely loved this rental!! Stayed here for a long weekend and the house met all our needs and exceeded my expectations. The rental was clean & comfortable and the location is perfect (steps from the beach!). I loved the historic charm and eclectic beach decor. Based on older reviews, I was a bit worried of what I would find, but I think significant updates have been made recently (all new appliances in the kitchen, new washer/dryer, updated decor, etc). Do keep in mind, however, this is an old house, so if wonky floors, small imperfections & vintage decor are not your thing you may want to look elsewhere. The location is also a bit further from the restaurants and bars (~ 1.6 miles), so keep that in mind if you are hoping to be within easy/short walking distance. The property management company was great. Everything you needed to know about the house was provided and easy to find. Check-in/out procedures were very easy.
The house was only about 50 yards from the beach and the rooftop deck is like the pictures online, you can see and hear the ocean from up top. There was a nice hammock under some shade in the yard. We like to go to the beach and the proximity for that was awesome. The house is old and some of the furniture inside is old, too. There were 4 of us and it was small but the online listing gave the square footage so it was accurate. Also because the house is old the floor has a significant slope and if you have mobility issues you would need to be mindful of that. The bathroom in the primary bedroom is really small. While the kitchen was small it had updated appliances. We had one small problem and the property manger fixed it in less than five minutes which was very impressive and appreciated. If you like access to the beach and spend most of your day at the beach this place works just fine.
We came to FB for a family wedding and vacation. The location is fantastic. Love the fenced in yard for the kids. Plenty of parking, very close to the beach, and absolutely adorable!
We had a LOVELY stay during our time in Folly Beach - even on a rainy wknd!!! Check-in and check-out were seamless! The house is as quaint and cute and well thought out as it looks online. Brand new appliances and views of the ocean from the roof deck. A perfect stay if you want to escape with your little family, couple, or solo. We loved it!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Very small. Especially one bath very very small. I expected a better deck view
We arrived after hours but it was easy to get the house and entry information. The house was charming and very clean. The beach was so close, we just had to cross the street and the roof deck with the view of the ocean was a great place for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at sunset. The ease of getting to downtown Charleston and other island beaches made it easy to explore the area. We really enjoyed our first visit to South Carolina.
We loved the location of this cozy and charming beach cottage. The deck at the roofline and the screened in porch were our favorite parts of the house. The outside shower was also a plus when coming back from the beach (which is just across the street).
The things we noticed that could be improved on are as follows. The house was not to a base level of cleanliness when we arrived. There could have been more amenities to make our stay more comfortable.
Overall we enjoyed our stay!

We Love the Sand Crab!
This is our 4th year renting the Sand Crab for our beach vacation! It is the perfect size for the 4 of us, with good kitchen, living and outdoor space. The one bathroom is tight but the second one is large if you have children or need some extra elbow room. Beach access is right across the street so it’s as close to beachfront as you can get without breaking the bank. Would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet, chill little bungalow.

Our 2nd Stay and Definitely Not Our Last...!
We stayed at the Sand Crab leading up to the 4th of July in 2021, and we were thrilled to return this year during Memorial Day Week - the cottage is even BETTER! The new kitchen cabinets, the new stove, and the bedrooms are even more charming. There is so much love in this cottage, as evidenced by the special objects and thoughtfulness of the art and treasures. Thank you to the family that so beautifully and generously stewards this magical place. We can't wait until next year!
The location of this cottage couldn't be more ideal. It is away from noise and activity of Center Street, but is a short golf cart ride away from restaurants and the market. Beach access is steps from the cottage which makes it easy to come and go to and from the beach throughout the day.
The other things we loved about the cottage was the rooftop deck - which offers a wonderful view of the ocean and views of the stars at night. The lower level screen porch was also a nice place to spend time. We appreciated the overall character of the cottage - which felt very personal. It has an eclectic mix of antiques and art, which kept it from feeling like a generic and sterile beach rental. It has ample space for four people and a dog - our two adult daughters joined us for several days and it comfortably fit all of us.
The washer and dryer were excellent amenities, and the TV and wi-fi worked well. The kitchen was well equipped with ample dishes and cookware, and we cooked in several nights.
As with other reviews, I will say that the main negative was the overall cleanliness. I realize it is difficult to do a deep cleaning in the time that cottage has to be turned around for the next guest, but there were some things that are just unacceptable: sandy grit on the dining table and inside the refrigerator, spilled liquid in the freezer, food crumbs inside the drawers, food wrappers that were from a previous guest on top of furniture, and a giant human hairball in the windowsill behind the sofa. If you are OCD about cleaning, this is not the place for you.
As a previous reviewer noted, the master shower has a lot of mold and mildew around the base, and the outdoor hose was difficult to use.
Additionally, the master bedroom is a very tight fit. It would really benefit from having a queen bed instead of a king. One side of the bed is so close to the wall there is no room for a bedside table for a phone, glass of water, or lamp for reading. We also found the bed itself to be very uncomfortable. The mattress was oddly sloped/leaning and was way too soft for our taste (I realize this is a personal preference).
My brother and I and one friend enjoyed our stay. The kitchen cabinets could be a little better organized and with some tupperware for food storage but I realize that can be challenging with renters.
The master bathroom shower has some mold /mildew in the caulk around the bottom and the hall bathroom floor is in need of repair/replacement.
The water hose for the outdoor shower was difficult to get good water flow through - very susceptible to kinks.
Really enjoy the rooftop deck and location is unbeatable.
