The Daffodil Hotel

"Very nice hotel with lovely well kept lawns and a stunning view of the lake. Staff are very professional and courteous. Everyone I encountered was friendly, hardworking working and clearly wanted the guests to have a really enjoyable and valued stay at the hotel. The cleanliness of the room was exceptional. Very good housekeeping team. The spa was nice to use after a days cycling and hiking. The hotel also provides guided local walking routes that are nice to do from the hotel. The hotel has easy access to Grasmere village so able to walk from the hotel into the village for a coffee and delicious ice-cream. Ambleside was also very accessible via the local bus route so no need to use the car for exploring the immediate local area. We stayed for four nights so able to totally relax and be rejuvenated. Good breakfast and dinner options available. There is ample space to relax and fully enjoy the beautiful countryside that inspired Wordsworth poetry."

"Jenny and Jim are the greatest hosts, they truly ensure you’re well looked after and are super happy to share useful tips! Our room was perfect, clean and with loads of storage options! Breakfast was super well organised and the options were so varied. Everything we tried was delicious! The location in the centre of Grasmere is also perfect! Thoroughly recommend!"

"Lovely quiet little cottage- very homely with a nicely equipped wee kitchen. Loved its secluded location. If you love walking, wildlife and old charm, you’ll enjoy this cottage. The coop in Grasmere (30 mins stroll down the lane) was fine for our self-catering needs."

"Value for money…. The rooms are not the cheapest, but they are worth the money. From start to finish the say was perfect. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to welcome you. We wished we had stayed another night and will definitely come back. The food and selection for breakfast was great and they accommodated our miniature poodle throughout our stay with a special welcome basket on arrival. All in all a wonderful getaway, thank you."

"It was a great location. We did find the car park a little bit tight and tricky to get into (as the road was fairly busy when we arrived). The cottage was great and had all we were after and the downstairs bathroom was great for my elderly Mum. The two single beds mattresses were a bit past their best so the only thing I’d suggest to improve the property would be an update of those. Otherwise it was a great place to stay right on the river."
