⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing stay at Quinta São José do Barrilário in the Douro Valley! The property is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by vineyards with breathtaking views of the valley. The peaceful atmosphere, lovely accommodations, and stunning scenery made our stay feel truly special. It was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of Portugal’s wine country. A memorable experience and a place we would love to return to!

We had a fantastic stay. It was low season and the owners treated us like family. The food was great, the room was nice though so be aware the open concept means the shower and toilet are basically in the same room.

My family (2 adults, 1 child) really enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and rich culture and history of this part of the Douro Valley. Maria was a wonderful host, and she was especially helpful in finding a particular, fairly new viewpoint in the Douro Valley and just in providing helpful information for things to do and things to eat. We really want to come back when we choose to visit Portugal again in the future.

We stayed at the Quinta S. Bernardo in late September and we can’t say enough about this property! The property is just beautiful with a stunning view of the Douro River and surrounded by the vineyards. The Quinta is family owned and lovingly and beautifully designed and decorated. One of our favorite hotel experiences ever!! The hotel itself is understated luxury with subtle mid century decor and elements. The pool and spa with additional indoor pool, steam room, sauna, and gym were beautiful and really were a huge perk. The included breakfast was delicious, and the staff were incredibly kind and courteous. We can’t wait to visit again. Also, the wine that comes from the hotel’s vineyard was the best red wine we had on our trip. You won’t be disappointed staying here!...

Beautiful property, we explored the vineyard and had a tour of the winery. We loved the restaurant and the views.

The place was really quiet and the view was stunning. The breakfast was really good as well with most food being locally sourced. The Panoramic Villa was nice, there was a bit of a misunderstanding at first when the host showed us the Villa but was resolved afterwards. Also the shower seemed to be stucked to really hot temperature but adding a little force to the other side of the fosset did fix it to more reasonable temperatures.

Meticulously clean property, quiet, relaxing, and professionally managed hotel. I have nothing but superlatives to say about our experience in Favaios. The town itself is worth the trip and the people are among the most friendly I have encountered in Portugal. Even the dogs are mellow. We will return.

This is such a beautiful place. We received a warm welcome and wonderful hospitality. We felt as if we were old friends being welcomed into this Quinta. Rodrigo and his staff have created an exceptional environment. The location is perfect. Close to all the sights of the Douro Valley but far enough to feel like you are out of the tourist zone.
