「We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. The room does not have a mini fridge so while searching for a place to store two bottles of beer and lunch food I was told I cannot bring my own food here to make sandwiches for a lunch nor can I drink my two beers on their property because they supply and make their own wine and beer (and expect us to buy their product).
