"Highly recommend Pros - Great rooms, lovely breakfast. Staff were great. Room was spotless. Cons - The shower toiletries had run out but I had bought my own so it didn’t matter. The towels are quite small but there was plenty of them. All in all a very good stay. "

"We stayed for one night and had a mixed experience. Unfortunately, the heating in the room wasn’t working when we arrived, but when we reported it to reception they were helpful and quickly provided a portable heater, which warmed the bedroom well enough. There was a noticeable amount of mould present in the bathroom, which isn’t something you expect at this price point. The layout of the bath/shower also means there is a window and windowsill within, so water splashes directly onto the sill and blinds when showering. Combined with the mould and the flaking paint around the window, it made the bathroom feel quite run down and in need of maintenance. On the positive side, the bed, pillows and duvet were extremely comfortable and we slept very well. The curtains also did a great job of blocking out the light. Overall, the stay was comfortable enough for one night, but given the price and the expectations that come with a Hotel du Vin, the room felt a little tired and not quite worth the cost. It has the feel of a luxury hotel, but one that could benefit from some maintenance and updating. Toby on reception was very friendly and helpful. "

"Room was nice and clean with comfortable bed. My only issue was that it was a bit too warm and difficult to open the window. However it was a good stay and really convenient location. "

"Came for business, professional exams and needed a good rest and a quiet room. This was my second time I stayed in the hotel, wasn't very busy got an " upgrade" to a double room/bathtub but had to pay for it , with no discount... Carpark is handy but anyone can walk in from the street and I was woken up by drunk noise ppl in the very early hours.Beds comfortable, the staff is helpful "

"Close to the centre. Easy parking although you do have to pay. Breakfast was fresh and hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and stocked with useful items! Hairdryer/iron and board etc! "

"Staff all nice. Room worn but clean and tidy so a reasonable stay. Hopefully the following is helpful feedback; Fridge not working (a 2nd one added to the room wasn't working either). Kettle lid broken and kept falling off when filling with water. The in-shower shelf was missing therefore shower gel on the floor. Not a worry to me but maybe to less mobile people. Rooms are not very sound proofed so corridor noise is a problem without very good earplugs. Bed comfy. The bar and lobby are fine and the car park is great so near to town and the quays. As this is one of the less expensive hotels, on balance it is ok and would stay again but would keep an eye on the price."

"My single room at The Telstar was so small that I couldn't even open up my umbrella to dry it out. I spent much of my time in the room with my teeth chattering because the small radiator simply didn't generate enough heat to warm the bedroom and the postage-stamp-sized bathroom. When I checked in, I specifically asked if housekeeping was provided every day and I was assured that it was. Upon returning the first day around 4:30 p.m.,however, the bed was still unmade and the towels hadn't been replaced. I reported it to the woman at the front desk and she brought up clean towels and cleaned the bathroom sink herself. Housekeeping did show up the next day, but left me without a bath mat. Because I was cold and wet from being out all day, I decided to take a hot shower. But even after running the water for about 15 minutes, it was still only luke warm, although the water first thing in the morning was nice and hot. Probably the only thing I can say in The Telstar's favor is that the full English breakfast served every morning was excellent and the servers were pleasant and efficient."
