"To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with my recent stay at the La Quinta hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts. I have stayed at many La Quinta locations across the United States and have always had positive experiences, which makes this situation especially upsetting. This was, unfortunately, the worst experience I have had, and certainly not worth the $153.00 I paid. Although the hotel is advertised as smoke-free, the smell of marijuana in the elevators and throughout the sixth floor was overwhelming and unacceptable. I was traveling with my two granddaughters, ages 15 months and 13 years, and the environment did not feel safe or appropriate for them. Additionally, the room itself was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress felt as though it had a sunken hole in the middle, making it very difficult to sleep, and the pillows were unusually small and flat. Given the circumstances of my trip—my father is currently in critical condition at Baystate Hospital—I needed a clean, comfortable place to rest. Instead, I felt compelled to check out at 6:39 a.m. due to the poor conditions. I am asking that this hotel be reviewed and that these issues be addressed promptly. "We were in the motor lodge rooms. Very nice rooms but the connecting door to the our neighbours was thin with gaps around it, which meant their talking disturbed us late at night. The bad thing was the wifi was very poor, which by today's standards is not acceptable. "
