To get to this extremely remote low pool called the Ernst Tinaja, you have to drive a high-clearance or 4WD vehicle on Old Ore Road in Big Bend National Park and hike about a mile. It was sweltering in April but so worth it to see the pink and orange flaky layers of rock laid down by eons of a shallow inland sea. The pool is a scary toxic green, and with its steep sides is a death trap to creatures other than birds or insects. Nice place. The washboard road coming to and from the ranch was a pain!! Wonderfully quiet outside. Cabin 58 was great with a water dispenser and coffee maker. Cabin 43 had neither.
