「Yes the staff was friendly my husband had a medical emergency staff did up and beyond there duty had the same room for extra nights while my husband was in hospital couldn’t do enough in making my still was saved and se cure .Did not get to the spa but I would books holiday there again in a heart beat.breakfast had lovely options 」

「Stayed three nights with my wife. Being very close to Wasdale, 40min drive, it is convenient for climbing Mt. Scafell Pike. Room is spacious with a splendid view. One down point is that the pub on the ground floor is sometimes, on Friday evening in particular, noisy. 」

「We had the luck of staying during the week of Halloween. the room was spacious and comfortable. There was a wonderful Halloween event happening and we especially enjoyed the owl show. 」

「The hotel is showing its age, but is quite clean. Room was good but basic, the room heat control was difficult, had to contact the front desk where they promptly turned on the electricricity. The room got cold at night and I tried to get the heat to work with no success, but then at 05:20 the heat came on magically. I assume they have the heat control on timer to save energy. The very large unheated outdoor pool was good but swimming would be difficult with all the large waves.」

「It’s alright for the price. Beautiful old main building but the rooms in the external properties (which it wasn’t clear we’d booked) were very basic, almost youth hostel style. The thermal journey in the spa was a bit of a let down. Quite a small area and very busy. The price said it included slippers but it didn’t and it felt a little like a living Petri dish. The location is great though. Worth crossing over the railway to get to the track near the beach for a walk/run. We did that twice...
