Wander through the underwater tunnel and see marvelous creatures such as turtles, sharks and tropical fish swimming above your head.

Blue Reef Aquarium is a family-friendly attraction with more than 40 displays featuring fascinating marine life. Inside its watery enclosures are all kinds of bizarre creatures from the depths of the world’s oceans, including a giant Pacific octopus. Bring your kids on a journey through our planet’s water worlds via these tanks of exotic fish.

As you explore, note how each tank or display has its own theme based on the natural habitat of its animals. These include sandy seabeds and vibrant corals. Stroll through the underwater tunnel and look for loggerhead turtles moving alongside you. Spot rays, slinky moray eels and bloated-looking puffer fish as well as reef sharks and countless colorful fish.

See the dwarf caiman crocodiles that grow up to a maximum length of 5 feet (1.5 meters). Marvel at the powerful pincers of the crabs and lobsters in the crustacean tanks. The nurseries area shelters baby animals, including young seahorses and clownfish, among other species. Don’t miss the black tip reef sharks, who are capable of hunting right from birth.

Check the schedule online or ask aquarium staff to find out when your favorite animal, whether octopus, turtle or tropical fish, will be fed. The aquarium also hosts talks so guests can learn about the amazing animals in their care.

Discover compelling facts about some of the aquarium’s most interesting species. The giant Pacific octopus, for instance, has blue blood, three hearts and a donut-shaped brain.

Enjoy snacks and refreshments in the aquarium café. An on-site gift shop sells stuffed toys and souvenirs.

Purchase aquarium passes online to save money. Tickets are available on the door though prices are slightly higher. The aquarium is open daily from morning until late afternoon with the exception of Christmas Day when it closes.

Blue Reef Aquarium is positioned just south of Towan Beach near Newquay town center. It’s about a 10-minute walk west from Newquay Railway Station to reach the aquarium. Parking can be found in lots on nearby St. George’s Road and Manor Road.
