"Great hotel"

"This was our first time in Porto. Unfamiliar with the area we had chosen this location deliberately to be a little way out of the throng of city centre life. That said, a 30 minute stroll took us into the heart of historic Porto, and all downhill. The premises still ooze the new look and are spotlessly clean; we liked the daily housekeeping. The staff were superbly friendly and really engaging, with meticulous care taken over our check-in and introduction to our room and facilities. We had asked for a garden view room and were given a room with both city (street) and garden view, with a small outside balcony on which we could chill throughout the day and evening. Room facilities were a home from home with everything needed for an independent stay, down to the dishwasher and fridge freezer. We ordered breakfast, which was delivered each morning, with fresh bread rolls and pastries; other continental additions were available. Lunch and dinner was available in the multitude of local restaurants/diners. With at least two local launderettes and supermarket, everything is near to hand to make any stay ideal. Although we didn't use it, the small onsite gym is a nice touch, if the Porto streets and hills are insufficient. For those interested, one of the advertised day wine tours meets outside a local church; really convenient. The outside garden space has a small bar which provides an idyllic inner city chill zone. This was a cool, chill facility, well presented and very well run."

"Without a doubt a 5 star luxury hotel. Staff trained to take excellent care of you and any requests you may have. Very welcoming environment and rooftop bar was exceptional - lovely views across the city, great food and wine menu and very family friendly. Breakfast was superb. Excellent buffet with champagne included as well as a la carte. Chefs cater to dietary requirements and even offered to make special breakfasts for our baby. A truly wonderful stay and we will be back! "

"The Log is a lovely newer property outside the city center in Porto. Friendly professional staff, clean and attractive facility. Not walkable to city center, but easy access to affordable Uber services."

"Loved this place. It had so much character and was like stepping back in time except with modern amenities. My room had a balcony with view of the lovely garden and the Clerigos Tower. Air conditioned (Porto was hot). Bed was comfortable. Modern bathroom with luxurious bathsheets. Breakfast buffet was definitely worth it with many options including an espresso machine. The woman who checked me in was very helpful and friendly. The rest of the staff was nice but a little aloof - not a big deal. It's not a good place for people with mobility issues because you have a flight of stairs before you get to reception and elevator level. And noone helps you with your luggage. Also, unless you hire luxury transport, you'll get dropped a half block away (Uber). The location is great. Get a paper map. Google and Apple maps are terrible. From here I walked everywhere. There's a wonderful authentic home cooking restaurant just across the cobblestone from the hotel. Restaurants and shopping all around. "
