Horrible experience. We booked this penthouse on Ramon y Cajal 69 street for 6 days to have peace, and arranged with them an airport pickup. We arrived and the driver took us to Homer 35 instead. I called the company and said we booked Ramon y Cajal. I was then told that the apartment we booked was “destroyed by students beyond repair” the night before, and it was in no shape to be stayed in. They said Homer 35 is a “bigger apartment, with private terrace not far away”. Upon the driver (which we paid 80 euros for the airport pickup) dropping us off at this unknown new location, we were met by Jorge, a representative for the owner Amir. Outside, Jorge says its a bigger apartment, private terrace, etc etc—-really trying to sell it. When walking in, we find a horrendous smell of bleach—to the point of making you sick, a maintenance person hurriedly trying to fix a tv in an otherwise completely barren living room (except for the old couch full of stains on it—which looked like it had been taken off the street on garbage day. The so-called private terrace was in fact, not private. The walls were barren concrete and one room had two cots in in, no window, concrete walls (which had filthy stains on them) and looked very much like a movie would depict a cell at Rikers Island or Alcatraz…..this may actually have been worse. The place was eerily dark, smelled, the freezer was broken and moldy, there was water damage, stains on all walls, and busted decking. Even Jorge himself wouldn’t sit down in this filth. When called out on the condition, he was empathetic and said he just is an employee and agreed that it is no way comparable to what we booked, and was approx 25 min away from where we had booked. Traveling as a family, I told Jorge that this is not what was booked, not even close, it was filthy and no way would be stay here. I asked for a refund of the 30% that was paid at booking. Jorge said it was not up to him. The owner Amir, refused to provide a refund, and said it was non-refundable!! I said it was unacceptable and demanded a refund for all the above reasons. He then said, “ I can give it to you tomorrow”. He then switched to “you can go there now”. But I thought it was beyond repair?? He has refused to refund the payment. We never stayed and had to get a hotel for our stay.. Now I see he tries to stay we stayed 1 day. Not true. Luckily, I joined my wife and daughter—they were to arrive a day before me. They would not have been safe!! Robbed?
