「Having an attached 24hr cafe, was great if you couldn't get back from days out until late. Staff were zuper friendly, and did their jobs well. Food was very good value, fresh and well presented.」

「My problem is probably mostly with Expedia. I didn't tick the box saying that I wanted a pet-friendly hotel, but the staff informed me after arrival that all their rooms were of that nature, and they didn't respond to a request via the Expedia website for a pet-free room prior to my setting off. It was clear efforts were made to minimise the effect of their policy on cleanliness but nevertheless it wasn't what I'd have chosen, if clearly informed.」

「I would avoid the skylight rooms . No secondary escape access in the event of a fire is a concern I voiced with reception and was consistently rebuffed with there is an escape plan on back of the room door . Also there was a smell of drains that seems to coincide with incline tides ! . Maybe a coincidence .」

「We were a family of 3 plus a cockapoo staying in The Tweed. The room was perfect for us. Loved the decor and attention to detail. It was nice to sit in the sun in the morning in the little garden with a coffee and listen to the birds. We had dinner and breakfast in the pub. The food was ok but the service could have been better. We booked in advance and were seated straight away but we found nobody came over to ask if we wanted drinks and we ended up having to stand in the queue at the bar....

「Just like to start off my saying how lovely it was to be welcomed in by such friendly staff! The location and hall were kept pristine! Breakfast was amazing, which the staff topped off with their excellent service! We didn’t have time to go to the spa which was unfortunate but we will definitely be back again to try it out!」

「The property is in a lovely setting and as the sun was shining we enjoyed an evening glass of wine on the patio looking over the gardens and tipi. The restaurant, public areas and the bedrooms were all pristine and food of a great standard, when in the area we would definitely stay again.」

「This is a fabulous hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, very good food, comfortable and well appointed rooms. Great location on the Northumbrian coast in a village which is a delight to walk round.」

「This is an institution but honestly I'd rather have a drink here and sleep elsewhere. The staff were very kind and helpful. It was mainly that because of the awesome pub it is noisy until pretty late. More from people on the street going in an out than the pub itself. It was pretty warm so I needed to leave the window open for some air. It is in the middle of town and safe and clean though, only the partiers were a problem but I was there on a Friday night.」

「We really enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse: quiet bucolic location, handsome and spotless, well-maintained house, We stayed in the Tweed room which was spacious and had everything we needed (including an excellent high pressure shower!). Peter and Sheila were great hosts and cooked breakfast to order each day and made sure we had everything we needed. Would happily return!」
