"A wonderful stay. The morning service at the temple was a profound experience. The introduction to zazen was great, though Japanese speakers will get most out of this - ditto the lecture before morning service. The meals were excellent, and everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. All together, this short stay was a true highlight of my month in Japan. If you’re staying over a Tuesday, you should be aware that (all?) the restaurants in Eiheiji village seem to close on that day. I’m sure...

"Stayed 3 nights here for a ski trip to Dynaland / Takasu Snow Park, which is 25 mins away driving. Hotels closer to the ski resorts didn’t look convincing so I went with this hotel run by Marriott. The room is big in Japanese standard, very clean and staff were helpful. Parking just outside the hotel and it’s located right at the junction off the highway, but inside it’s very quiet. Shokawa is an old village so don’t expect any night life but there are sufficient dining options and onsen...

"Can’t speak highly enough of our stay. They picked us up from the bus stop, fed us an elegant dinner and breakfast, and took us back in town. Best place we stayed in our trip to Japan. "

"The picture, the huge crab aquarium at the entrance, the crab marking on the room numbers tell it all, this is a Ryokan for eating really good crab. Sakai, is a far place, and it is pretty old and run down, but it would all be worth it for the crab. So you can imagine my surprise when I learned that despite it being crab season my dinner doesn't have any crab. Had they informed me in check-in that my dinner didn't have crab, I would've been slightly upset that I had to pay a few hundred...

"This resort appears to be popular with families with little kids. We got a room with 2 beds and 2 futons so it was larger than the usual futon only rooms. It had a bathroom but no shower, with expectations that you would shower at the onsen. They had free parking which was nice. The breakfast was the best buffet breakfast of our trip with lots of items to choose from. "

"The 4k TV was a nice touch. Plenty of amenities and options to customize your stay. Just found it a little crowded as many people seem to use the hotel even if its in a quiet area. "
