TIDE4 Amrum No. 5 - Cute Tiny Loft for one person, 100m to the sea
There’s room even in the smallest cabin ... At about 20 square meters, “5” is the smallest of our vacation apartments. The centerpiece of the “tiny loft” is the large kitchen island, which also makes a great place to sit. The kitchen is equipped with a 2-burner induction cooktop and a microwave. For the bed, we chose a cozy bunk bed with a 100-centimeter-wide mattress. For one person, this small studio is an extremely cozy little nest where you can live comfortably even in the smallest of spaces.
The outdoor area: TIDE4 is situated on slightly elevated ground on a 2,000-square-meter property. In 2024, we began redesigning this area around the house and transforming it into a natural dune garden. Sand, dune grass, and pine bushes. In between, there are boardwalks and beach chairs. By the way, each apartment has its own beach chair available.
The Location: Our guesthouse is located on a quiet side street in Wittdün. Wittdün is like a little nook at the southern tip of the island. This is where the ferries from the mainland and from Föhr arrive. And nowhere else on the island is the sea as close as it is here. This location “between the seas” is what makes it so special. On one side, the Wadden Sea is barely 100 meters away; on the other, the expansive Kniepsand and Amrum’s endless dune landscape. But the small town center of Wittdün—with all the shops you need for daily necessities, restaurants, and our favorite beach bar overlooking the vast beach—is also not far away.
The Island: Amrum is all about peace and relaxation. The endless beaches, the vast horizon, and the unspoiled natural beauty are good for the soul and guarantee a restful vacation. Yet life on this small island in the heart of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, the Wadden Sea, is anything but boring. You can set out on wonderful walks right from the house. The Wadden Sea and the expansive Kniepsand—one of Europe’s largest sandy beaches—are just a few minutes’ walk away. This is also where the Dune Nature Trail begins—one of the many boardwalks that branch out across Amrum’s unique dune landscape. A long walk through the woods is also possible, as Amrum, with approximately 200 hectares of forest, is actually the most forested island on the North Sea coast. Those who’d like to explore Amrum by bike can cycle all the way around the island via the well-developed network of bike paths. One of the highlights is undoubtedly a mudflat hike. On guided tours from Amrum to Föhr, you can explore the fascinating world of the Wadden Sea and perhaps even spot a seal or two.

On Amrum, a visitor’s tax applies to all persons aged 18 and older; this is calculated separately depending on the travel season. Children and teenagers under 18 traveling with their parents or a legal guardian (except on group tours) are exempt from this fee. Additionally, individuals with a “B” on their disability ID card and their accompanying person are exempt from the visitor’s tax.
