Royal Garden Hotel

"Good hotel, but check your bill carefully! The hotel itself was very good and in an excellent central location. My wife and I stayed with a group of friends after attending an event nearby, and we were perfectly happy with our stay — until breakfast the following morning. This is where things became disappointing. Our bill stated a 12.5% service charge, yet we were also charged an additional £3.50 per guest — £21 in total — even though our guests had already paid for their breakfasts separately. I find this extremely misleading. If a charge is described as 12.5%, then that is what a customer reasonably expects to be charged. Adding further charges without making them absolutely clear is, in my view, deceptive and leaves a very poor impression. It’s a shame because we genuinely liked the hotel. My advice: enjoy your stay, but check your bill very carefully before paying."

The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is the size of the room. It was extremely small, especially the bathroom. The shower was so tight that, as a taller/larger person, I could barely shower comfortably. Apart from the limited space, everything else was very good."

We arrived bedraggled and exhausted and they helped us settle in, responded to every request with smiles and helpful suggestions, and were just wonderful. Thank you. The room was clean, beautiful, and very cozy (small), but very nicely laid out and had everything we needed. Thank you all for going the extra mile to help these tired Yanks. ❤️"

"It is a beautiful property- and currently undergoing some renovations- but that didn’t get in our way at all. Being an old building we expected it to not be perfect. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean in all the ways that mattered… bed, bathroom, floors. The room could use a deeper cleaning - some areas were dusty. But overall we enjoyed the stay here. Beds were comfortable and soft."
