Great hotel

Really nice hotel in a quiet location. The hotel was well maintained and the pool was great for the kids. We didn’t have a car but there was a bus every hour to the town and train station and a few restaurants close by. Highly recommend if you like to be a little away from the hustle.

The hotel is pretty clean and we had a good view. However it is extremely inconvenient for transportation. Immensely ! There’s a local bus that passes every hour and it’s not reliable. You need to schedule taxis in advanced and they’re every expensive. Car rentals are expensive. There’s only one good restaurant close by.

The hotel is in an incredible location, the view of the sunset is priceless. The hotel is clean, and the staff is attentive. The only thing that left something to be desired was breakfast. The coffee machine that was available and free to use was instant coffee, which had a questionable taste compared to the excellent Italian espressos. If you wanted, you could ask the waiter for a real espresso or a cappuccino, but these were limited to just one per person.

The property looked lovely. The room was clean and spacious and came with a balcony. The breakfast option was very poor. There were not many dairy free options considering I had a child that required this. Very limited amount of food. The lunch/dinner menu was extortionate considering it didn’t come with a side such as salad.

The Stars and Wishes for Maison Montechiro

Our original hotel fell through so we ended up at this hotel with very short notice. The rooms are very nice, spacious bathrooms and very nice decks. This hotel is perched on the hilltop of Montechiro, behind the church. It has a lovely pool and grounds. We did not have a car, so getting around was difficult at this location, there is a bus, but it only comes by, taking you to Vico Equense where you can catch the train to Sorrento once per hour. There is a corner store and the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been to in my life within walking distance. There are a few things that this hotel can do to improve, they close the pool by 6:30-7 pm which is too early when you’ve been out all day and want an evening swim to cool down. The rooftop deck was only open when there was a bartender available, having it closed on a beautiful summer night is just wrong. Taxi’s and Ubers are absurdly expensive, €30-40 to ride less than 3 km, we were left at the side of the road as the bus driver saw us and just kept going leaving us to walk uphill at night, if this hotel offered a shuttle a few times a day to Meta station, even if it cast a few euros, that would be a game changer and make this hotel just perfect.

The property itself was in a beautiful location. Isabel the concierge was wonderful, texting us before we arrived and arranging a car from the train station. She pointed out the local bus which was the most convenient highlight. There was also someone who seemed like the property manager who was very kind and attentive. The property was disappointing as it was clearly not as advertised. The listing has beautiful pictures of loungers on a deck near the pool, when they were actually set up in the grass with many bugs. When I tried to access the panoramic deck, it was locked. Breakfast was mediocre at best, store bought bread and yogurt etc. The listing advertises a beach shuttle, when we arrived they said they had this a while ago and stopped offering the service. Access to the beach was a draw for booking the property and we were left disappointed. Also, the listing advertises many restaurants around when in fact there was one close by (and it was fantastic!) but certainly not as advertised that there were food options within walking distance. They wouldn’t let us order in. The evening concierge was not helpful at all and claimed he kept trying to make a reservation at a restaurant but couldn’t get through. I ended up finding an online link to make it myself. Overall this property has so much potential, but is quite lacking compared to what was advertised. I feel for some of the staff who were trying to make it work, others seemed like they truly couldn’t be bothered.

I stayed here in June 2024 with my family. The property is very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were modern and so were the bedrooms . Our bathroom had an amazing view of the volcano and sea which was lovely. The breakfast was quite basic and could be better- there was an extra charge required for fried eggs/ omelettes. The property is in vico equense- a small town 20 minutes from Sorrento. I found the location very inconvenient. The hotel shuttle bus only takes you to the local beach/ marina and Vico Equense train station. From there you have to take another train to Sorrento ( like 20 min train). From the hotel to Sorrento after taking a shuttle bus and a train it would take us around 1.5 to 2 hours to get there which was a real pain ! The shuttle bus would take around 40 minutes to get to the train station after picking up other guests from other hotels, then you would have to wait for the train. I think this is why the hotel is slightly cheaper than ones in Sorrento so please bare this in mind. The hotel in general was clean, safe and had lovely views of the Amalfi coast. There is a lovely sun roof on the third floor which you can see the whole Amalfi coast from . I would give this place 7/10 in general . Also there are no cafes / restaurants near the hotel which is also inconvenient. The location is not the best so please bare this in mind, we found it very tiring going back and forth to the hotel then to Sorrento .
