One of the most famous streets in Rome was the primary setting of Federico Fellini’s classic film La Dolce Vita.

Discover Via Veneto, Rome’s elegant street filled with cafés and luxury hotels. The great Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini made this sophisticated street famous in the 1960s. See the Piazza Barberini, a square featuring a 17th-century fountain. Tour a 17th-century church and see a crypt housing the bones of many monks. Follow Via Veneto north to a gate of the Aurelian Walls. This street is located near one of Rome’s largest public parks, filled with historic attractions. Spend a day outside in this delightful spot.

See Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s 17th-century Triton Fountain in the Piazza Barberini. The centerpiece of the square, this fountain depicts a muscular Triton, a minor Greek sea god. Notice the Fontana delle Api (Fountain of Bees), also sculpted by Bernini. The Piazza Barberini is one of two sites of the National Gallery of Ancient Art.

Visit the Capuchin Church of the Immaculate Conception, a 17th-century church with a six-room crypt containing the bones of more than 4,000 monks. See the bones arranged on the walls in various patterns, including crosses and shapes. Notice a large clock made from human vertebrae.

Within a short walk beyond the Porta Pinciana gate, you will find the Villa Borghese public park. Its Bioparco di Roma is a zoological park with many animals, including lions, tigers, zebras and monkeys. Hire a pedicab or rent a bicycle and explore the Villa Borghese and its many historic attractions, including the Globe Theatre Rome and the Borghese Gallery.

Get off the metro at the Barberini stop to emerge outside the Piazza Barberini. This street is known for its luxurious hotels however, less expensive accommodations are available in surrounding districts, including Rione Monti.

With its decadent and stylish atmosphere, historic monuments and proximity to the Villa Borghese, Via Veneto is a perfect street to experience an elegant Roman lifestyle.
