This property has Room 1 and Room 2. If you go, book Room 1 only. It was very nice, updated. Room 2 was a bit dated but clean upon check in however, there was a foul sewage odor that remained during our 4 night stay. We never had house keeping during our stay although we left the door open and the lady told us she was going to clean. We ran out of toilet paper and requested it three times in 30 hours before a small roll was brought over. The area is very quiet and a nice neighborhood. Very walkable, close to beach, restaurants, bars, shops. I would stay again but only if I was able to book room 1. That sewage smell in room 2 was too much.

I am sorry to have missed Amelia due to her accident but Pepe was most welcomming in arranging taxi's, excursions, etc. The house with 2 rooms is centrally located just off the main strip with the beach on the other side, whilst the main hotels are located away, at either end of the strip. Internet requires the purchase of cards which can be hard to source so buy several when found as 1 hour is only 50 CUP. I would recommend this home from home.

10/10 for Amelia

Amelia was hands down the best host, a real homely mother feel to her, warm and welcoming and excellent local knowledge. Explained to me in exact details how to get around on the bus (you pay $5 and it is unlimited for the day and takes you on a loop, if you needed to know). It is clear she puts in a lot of effort into running the Casa, the room was spotless, the sheets were sparkling clean. Everywhere smelt clean and it was all tidy. She also makes herself available when needed. Also a nice balcony you could sit out on just by the bedroom doors, perfect for a quiet chill in the sunshine. Breakfast was excellent made by her son, very tasty and plenty of it. Room had a fridge in it, which is a nice touch, esp as it is not filled with an expensive mini bar, you can just put your own drinks in there. Aircon worked perfectly. Security is clearly very important for Amelia, the gate is locked, for which you are provided a key. And the doors are kept locked too (even if I couldn't remember which key was which). If I return to Cuba I'll be hoping to stay with Amelia.

Wonderful family experience, very inclusive atmosphere, very safe. Amelia and son Pepe, Lewis and Becky, all made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend. Very central to Varadero's downtown amenities.

Amelia was an amazing host and provided great service. She has a very beautiful yard that’s gated for better security. The room had a big comfy king size bed with ac, tv, fridge and a rooftop patio facing the ocean. The location was nice and close to restaurants and downtown Varadero. She’s got a lovely little dog that’s nice to hang out with. I’d highly recommend staying with her. It’s your own private apartment connected to her house but you don’t hear anything. It feels like your own place!

hébergement bien situé (central) pas loin de la plage, chambre spacieuse, propre, confortable avec un grand lit double, avec prises électriques, réfrigérateur. petit déjeuner complet servi dans la cuisine. Accès à la belle terrasse (rooftop) qui offre une vue magnifique sur la mer. Très bien situé à quelques minutes du centre. Je m'étais fiée aux avis positifs pour me décider à réserver et j'ai bien fait, même pour une seule nuit ! Pépé le fils d'Amelia a été de bons conseils et nous a aidés à organiser notre trajet vers l'aéroport de la Havane en taxi collectif. Je recommande vivement !

Amelia and her son Pepe were excellent hosts. Very kind, informative and helpful as we navigated the travel and local currency. The property was very well maintained and we felt safe in our room. It was great to have access to a fridge inside our room too. There walk to Varadero beach was easy, plus restaurants and the beach bus. Highly recommend.
