"The chalet was clean and comfortable and in a lovely peaceful and picturesque location. However we did have a problem with the bathroom door as lock was lose and on occasions we couldn't get out of the bathroom or in if the door was properly closed. On stripping of the beds as requested by the cleaning company notes left in the chalet, my daughter was quite upset to discover a dodgy looking yellow stain on the mattress protector under the bottom sheet and also on the pillows. "I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant. Breakfast was continental (although you could pay to have a cooked breakfast) but the continental on offer was varied and there was lots of it. Would love to come back another time."

"The room had two relatively minor issues: 1. The toilet flush was terrible. Difficult to flush. Impossible with long flush, hit and miss with short flush. 2. The toilet roll holder was in need of securing. Toilet rolls inevitably fell to the floor when used. As I said these issues were relatively minor but were an ongoing irritant."

"Certainly a property away from it all, with plenty of space inside and out. Sitting by the river, or on the patio looking down the valley both excellent spots. Easy short walks from the cottage are also excellent. Ruth is a good host, helpful when asked but not at all intrusive. Indeed for our stay, though on a farm with lots of sheep around, we saw nobody around. A great place if you want peace and quiet"
