"We stayed in two different rooms at The Thunderbird Lodge. The first was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was nice and strong. The second was not quite clean, and the lock on the door didn’t work, so we piled our luggage in front of the door before going to sleep. The best part, however, was that the hotel was right on the rim of the Grand Canyon- truly breathtaking. "
"Very basic lodgings, but clean, and convenient location in the park accessible to all the trails. The food court is not ideal, but you can always go up to El Tovar for meals. "
"Excellent hotel and restaurant, with very friendly and helpful staff and servers who were very attentive and customer servi e focussed. Hotel staff gave good suggestions for hikes, and restaurant staff were super accommodating. The restaurant breakfast was delicious, especially the cinnamon bun, which we got to go as it was their specialty so we had to try - it did not disappoint! For dinner, try to get there before sunset and check out the views outside before dinner. The desserts, different every night, are really worth it.
The hotel is located overlooking the Grand Canyon, with easy walks all around.
Highly recommend this hotel. "
"Staff member at the lodge was a bit impatient when asked about check-in and othet park information prior to 3 pm. Staff available at 3 pm were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Womens bathroom at main lodge had no water running from sinks-this needs help! Not great, especially when going to eat afterward! In personal room, our door had quite a gap underneath - not great for heat retention or to keep small critters out! Also, not much for counter space in the whole room, so can be challenging. And, not much for outside lightong, so if walking from the lodge to your room after dinner, after sinset, can be a challenge."
"The 1 BR cabin was a little tight but close to the Bright Angel trail and shuttle buses. Maswik lodge was a short walk for breakfast and had a variety of food options. Close proximity to everything we wanted to do."
