The view of the lake from watchman trail. Really cool hike and definitely worth it. #lake #oregon #nature #pretty
Perched in the rim of crater lake was this snow hawk. The t-shirt weather was turning the snow to slush fairly quickly, so I'm not entirely sure how long he'd been there or how long he'd stay after I was gone. I would imagine that he's gone by now. Flown south for another summer, likely never to return. #nationalpark
I know this isn't the only picture of crater lake on here, but I think it's one of the best I took on my most recent roadtrip, a tour of the pacific northwest. The clear but cloudy sky reflected perfectly in the pool of crater lake and the clusters of snow and ice were just barely clinging to the shaded sides of the mountains late in June. Wizard Island looks snow-free, but wandering to the other side showed that the snows still clung to its rocky crags. I don't know too much about when to and when not to visit, but late June worked out very well for me. Just enough snow and just enough shorts-weather. #nationalpark
