「My wife and I stayed for three nights at Bartles Lodge in August 2026. We were warmly welcomed by proprieters upon arrival. The premises were clean and comfortable, we opted for a continental breakfast and the selection offered was excellent. We ate two evening meals which were hot and tasty and well presented. 「It is set in a beautiful location but the rooms feel really close together and you can hear others coming and going and talking. Sadly I was unable to enjoy the breakfast due to it not being served before I had to leave. I am a business traveller so appreciate I may not be who they are geared up for.」

「Only one member of staff who was pleasant. More of a DIY place. Once grand but terribly run down. We had attic room and stairs very steep. Most odd room with ancient furniture and fittings. Linen and bathroom clean and hot water fine, but not a room I’d recommend!! Breakfast good but wouldn’t return」

「Staff was helpful carrying luggage upstairs. Room was very clean, Tea and coffee and,biscuits plentyful. microwave came in handy for late night snack., Best shower facilitiies weve had ,compared to other places weve been. Breakfast menu was good but ,we are not big eaters. Good place to stay.」

「Lovely friendly staff, always remembering that I stayed before. We get the room we have requested. We order a vegetarian roast which is outstanding, food delicious and hot. Plenty of parking. Depending where the room is you can hear the traffic going past in the evening & mornings but overall alovely stay. That's why we keep going back and also you have a choice of breakfast part of the deal.」

「Lovely 14th century building, still as 14th century building. Breakfast great. Flexible. Tea n coffee as required. Homely and full of character. Owners were always available and helpful. Adequate parking for us. Short drive to lavenham and lavenham theatre. Ideally situated.」
