Our cabin is part of Alpine Lake resort, with all the lakeside amenities. We’re just a few minute drive from the lake itself, where you can relax on the beach, head out for a swim, go fishing, or take out a canoe/kayak. The lake is over 150 acres, so plenty of areas to explore.
Alpine Lake also has a ton of other activities available for you (all for free!), including:
- Indoor pool (open year-round)
- Fitness center
- Tennis, basketball, and pickleball courts
- Hiking trails (and cross-country skiing in the winter)
Alpine Lake also has an award-winning, 18-hole golf course. Tee-time is bookable and prices and availability vary seasonally. Enjoy the great West Virginia outdoors in the pristine, wooded course on the lake!
Everyone’s sure to find something fun to do regardless of the season. And while we’re so close to everything, you can always retreat back to the cabin for your own little oasis in the woods.
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Please note: Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Beyond the cabin and everything at Alpine Lake, we also love how close we are to Deep Creek Lake and Wisp Ski Resort -- both only about 40 minutes away. Great options in both the summer and winter!

Very nice, clean home with all the extras. Quiet area with great outdoor deck for coffee, reading, and meals. Disappointing fire pit, as it is on a slope with no easy path.
Such ease from when I booked this property, to departure. The host was super helpful and informative with recommendations of things to do in the area. The house was clean and had everything that we needed. The resort was nice, and there’s a lot of hikes within a short distance. If you’re looking for privacy and to get away from the busy city life, this is definitely the place to be! Can’t wait to come back again :)

it waa no where near resort! and the resort was absolutely disgusting. it was dirty, poorly staffed and nothing was open on a saturday at 4 so it was a total bust.. i had teenage kids with me and i was excited to give them a little weekend get away.. we were 4 miles to resort, and like i said so so gross. the house was just okay and had a smell, but not nearly what we thought we were getting from pictures. the kids did not have any fun at all, the town that was the closest was ran down and frankly scary... i will say property manager was very prompt with his responses about property..
Beautiful cabin that was visited by many deer in the mornings and evenings. We enjoyed a couple days of fishing on the lake and will probably be back next year
Our stay was nice. It was quiet and relaxing. The Lake, Golf Course and woody areas were beautiful. Will visit again. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
Very nice kitchen, diningroom, and gameroom. The stairs are not meant for older people like us. The doors need some work. But overall a very nice stay. Would book again if not for the stairs.
What a pleasure it was staying here! When we travel, I tend to pack pretty much anything I think I might possibly need, especially when we stay in a remote area like Terra Alta, WV. Had I known how well-appointed this cabin was, I could have saved a ton of packing. The owners seem to have thought of everything you might need. Quality toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, face wash. Laundry room had detergent and fabric softener sheets. Even the kitchen was well-appointed, right down to spices and coffee/filters. Comfy mattresses, quality bedding, nice blankets and fluffy (actual full size!) towels. Even our doggo felt welcome, with food and water bowls, a feeding mat and dog treats. It was as if the owners took every suggestion from anyone who ever stayed to ensure our stay was quite comfortable. The only "mention" I can make is that the driveway is quite steep - we had to put our truck in four-wheel drive to turn around. But that is of no surprise in that region. Elderly folks might want to bring along some good hiking boots, as I did struggle a bit to walk down the driveway to the trash bin or up to the fire pit. And of no great surprise, it's a 20 minute drive to pretty much any big store or pharmacy. Also, Alpine Lake's (on-site) restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan accordingly. This cabin is a treasure. My family lives nearby, so when we visit again, we will definitely stay here again. Next time, however, I won't have to pack nearly as much!

The property was as advertised. It was located on a steep incline shown in the pictures. We did not realize the kitchen was upstairs with no outside acrss so getting food supplies in was through the basement and up the stairs. The basement family room was damp as was the bedroom downstairs. I ran the dehumidifier in the basement bedroom and it filled every three hours. The kitchen was adequate. The upstairs porch was very nice. We enjoyed the lake and the indoor pool. We hiked some of the trails. Overall we had an enjoyable time with family.
