"you have to come in with appropriate expectations. This is Egypt and it's Luxor. The pictures make this look very beautiful, and a lot of the resort is picturesque, but what you don't see is you get dropped off on a street and walk through a metal detector, there are A LOT of mosquitoes, and the rooms are tired. I mean, I walked in and could see from across the room that the mattress was shot, with huge depressions where people had been sleeping over the years, and my back hurt all week. The air conditioners worked but were super loud. The rooms are huge but pretty dilapidated, with weird bathrooms. The pool was really nice and the staff were very nice. Our guide warned us that many of his clients staying here had gotten 'food poisoning', and I did indeed get travelers diarrhea here. I cannot be sure where I got it but we only ate at the hotel and Im a doctor who is very germaphobic and Im an experienced traveler, I never touch tap water even for the toothbrush. I was the only one of my family who ate salad twice, so that is a possible source. I should know better than ordering a salad, but I thought it would be safe in the hotel. Totally my fault, but would ask the hotel to make sure they are not washing vegetables in tap water. The doctor on site was super nice and helpful and gave me cipro/flagyl which took care of it in a couple of days. We ended our stay early. I will not be coming back. Its probably nice by Luxor standards, just set your expectations appropriately."
"The resort was awesomely maintained and kept beautiful, the pools were very nice. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful towards our stay, the room service is also good."
"This place took me by surprise, as I had no idea it was so grand when I booked it through Hotels.com. Marble everywhere, huge hallways, three restaurants: - upscale French; casual Italian (delicious lasagna); and a bistro where breakfast is served. There’s also a cozy pub and an outdoor lounge on the roof-top, pool deck, where the chefs pick herbs from the gardens. The customer service throughout the hotel was excellent. I was upgraded to a king room with a balcony offering a lovely view over The Nile to the West Bank - including Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple - and I watched the sun go down over the pharaoh’s tombs. The room was spacious and well fitted out: the bed comfortable and the shower hot and strong. I ordered the American breakfast one morning and the most amazing amount of food arrived for the meagre sum of EGP250! Customer Service Manager, Esraa (formerly of the famous Winter Palace Hotel), is an Egyptian goddess who can and does make anything happen: like my very late checkout 🙏. I was instantly addicted to the welcome drink (a secret recipe) and she ensured that my cravings were sated! I had a luxurious three night stay and would happily return."
"Beware at check in. Check in person initially put us in downgraded room- after stating that he was upgrading the room-(twin beds, no view of river when booking was for king bed river view. ) After getting to tiny twin bed room, I complained and was put in appropriate room which was right across the hall. Hotel is very nice and clean and rest of stay was fine. I would stay there again despite the slimy check in."
"I will 100% stay here when I come back. The palace is CLEAN, QUIET, and BEAUTIFUL. The entire hotel was architecturally beautiful and clean. I was one of a few guests at the hotel and felt/was treated like royalty. The owner is a wonderful, kind, and helpful woman.
The hotel offers a free boat to cross to the east bank which was a blessing. With the hotel being on the West Bank, there is little noise at night meaning you can hear all the sounds the Nile has to offer.
Absolutely wonderful hotel - one of the best I’ve stayed at around the world."
