The hotel is beautiful don’t get me wrong, the problem is they close part of the pool with activities at 5 then leaving us with nothing else to do. It’s way too early. The restaurants are booked a weeks advance so the morning when you arrive you can’t get any restaurants reservations. No exceptions. The staff maybe 90% of them are not happy like they hate their jobs or are all underpaid that’s why they are not helpful. And when we checked out of our rooms my husband when to the room to get our luggage out at 1145 and they blocked our door key which check out is at 12. When I went to ask the front desk they gave me no other option. I honestly wouldn’t go back go find. I did speak to a manager and didn’t do nothing just apologize. There is no waves and all the other activities in the hotel you have to pay extra for them so you are forced to do them because the pool closes early.

Overall, we had a good stay, but it wasn’t a great one. Some of the issues were out of the resort’s control, like the seaweed, but others could have been improved. We’ve stayed at several all-inclusive resorts in Cancun, and our favorite is Secrets Maroma. Compared to that, The Haven felt a little run down. The elevators weren’t working, which wasn’t a huge issue by itself, but having to walk up three flights of stairs to the restaurants and two flights every time we went to our room became frustrating. The food was probably the biggest disappointment. I actually thought the room service steak was much better than the steak at the steakhouse. The Japanese restaurant was the best meal we had, but reservations were required. We tried every restaurant, and a couple were so disappointing that we left before finishing our meals. Unfortunately, when we wanted to go back to the Japanese restaurant, we couldn’t because we didn’t have a reservation. The pools were excellent, and the atmosphere was one of the highlights of the resort. There was a quiet pool for relaxing and another with music and a more lively vibe, so it was easy to find the atmosphere you were looking for. The beach itself was beautiful, with plenty of lounge chairs available. The only downside was the seaweed. It was extremely heavy during our stay, and as it piled up, it began to rot and smell. That’s obviously not something the resort can control, and if the seaweed hadn’t been so bad, the beach is awesome.
