Tangier is a great stepping off point to other parts of Morocco, but is also interesting in its own right, with lots to recommend it. More European than rough Marakech but with a lot of authentic Arabic culture. Shopping is much nicer too.

Crossing a wide street was a new challenge. There are no traffic lights. If your want to cross the street, you just start to cross against the traffic and the cars are supposed to stop for you. Most of the time they stop.

Was great to walk through the Medina. Not sure if it's Air Arabia policy or the airport but be aware on flying out that they try and charge 75e for a carryon bag even though it fit with no charge coming into Morocco.

"Such a wonderful place at entrance of the the Medina of Tangier. A former bank building from 1907 transferred in the early 2000s to a hotel. After traveling for almost 3 weeks all over Morocco we had our last two nights in this historic place. Great service, excellent breakfast buffet, nicely decorated rooms. Very detail orientated decor of the hotel. The only shortcoming was the noise coming from the street at night. We had a balcony room, facing the street, lovely during daytime and in the evenings, but a bit noisy at night. Not the fault of the hotel, but if you have a light sleep you might want to ask a room facing not the street. "
"The property is near the edge of the Medina, very close to interesting museums and landmarks, and the promenade along the water. The top floor is a restaurant open all day and evening, with a great view of the harbour and the sea, and a pleasant sea breeze. The hotel staff is super helpful, and helps ordering taxis and carrying suitcases from the hotel down stairs to the taxi pick up point. The hotel is very close to the Grand Mosque, which means that the call to prayer is audible at specific times of the day. "
