"This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in anywhere. We have travelled in a lot of countries. Hotels have been generally excellent but at times they lacked atmosphere. The Stroud Hotel has buckets of atmosphere. Its decor is superb being based on a revived pattern of old bricks and reused wood planking alonside modern amenities. We stayed in the biggest bedroom we have ever had! The staff also help to endorse this atmosphere through their friendly but expert approach to guests at the hotel especially by the manager and his wife and those who manage the bar etc. The food is excellent. We only had breakfast because we were visiting family who fed us. However the breakfast had continental elements laid out eg croissants and other pastry treats. Cereals of all types, bread for toast etc., jams and yoghurts tea and coffee. On top of that we could have cooked breakfasts which we had a couple of times. So well cooked. The rooms were kept very clean. It was a very welcoming hotel with friendly helpful and efficient staff. The hotel is well placed in the town being next to the railway station and near the shops"

"Nice rooms, friendly pub, plenty of parking and 10 minutes walk to town, ideal for a concert at The Subscriptions Rooms. Lovely breakfast in the morning"

"Lovely little bolt hole next to a great pub. The bed was very comfy and the shower was amazing. The outside seating is overlooked by the main road and due to roadworks it was a bit too busy with standing traffic to sit outside. The pub next door was very good and we enjoyed an evening meal and breakfast the next day."

"Lovely cottage with a sunny garden. Nice decoration. Parking nearby is sometimes difficult. 10 minutes walk to the city center or the Waitrose supermarket, but both are a steep climb back. Stroud is not very attractive, but lots of beautiful Cotswold villages within a 30 to 45 minutes drive."
