St Ives is blessed with four superb sandy beaches of varying character from surfer spots to sheltered family-friendly coves, plus a picturesque harbour. It’s a popular spot for walkers with the South West Coast Path stretching either side of town and it is much loved by nature enthusiasts with boat trips to a local seal colony and an RSPB reserve at the Hayle Estuary (5 miles) to the east of Carbis Bay. There’s plenty to keep you occupied in town, too, with art galleries, an atmospheric centre with narrow cobbled lanes, independent shops, and a delicious food scene, all within 500 metres.
