"I came for the eclipse on August 12, 2026. My first choice of hotel canceled at the last minute and Expedia kindly help me with this excellent hotel. I lucked out! The staff are very gracious, and I enjoyed the generous breakfast as well. It is a few kilometers outside of Burgos, so you have to plan for that"

Parador de Santo Domingo Bernardo de Fresneda

"The parador is so beautiful. Superbly and sensitively refurbished. The massive four poster was amazing and all the staff were helpful. The town itself is a little run down and feels like it’s been rather left behind. Many closed shops and bars, empty houses and overgrown lots."

"Great property with fabulous, well kept rooms and lovely staff. A great pool area and lots of activities for families as well as a nice play area. Breakfast not so great sadly, eggs were green, bread and pastries were stale and hard, even juice was bitter and acidic. Sadly no vegetarian food at the restaurant last night either so, have left hungry… but it was a really nice hotel. If you’re not bothered about food, it’s definitely worth the stay!"
Parador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada

"It was excellent location and staff and food all amazing. It’s right in the centre of the fascinating town Santo Domingo de La Calzada. Love paradors and this one did not disappoint. The food was fab I’d definitely recommend half board. The only negative is that it was quite difficult to locate even with the instructions sent from the hotel. A friendly local had to help us by by getting in the car and telling us where to go."

"The room was very comfortable and close access to the bathroom. The hostess, Ivis, was very helpful to us and cooked a lovely pasta meal for dinner. The property was a bit difficult to get to. Overall we would recommend it."
