"The hotel is in a great location overlooking a sandy beach and I think all of the rooms have this beautiful view. The staff are great and very helpful. There are a couple of negatives about it for me. The hotel rooms felt a bit dated compared to everywhere else we stayed. The pool was closed for the whole time we were there. Probably the most frustrating was that between 3pm and 6 there is no way to get anything to eat. After that the restaurants are v limited, a very expensive french restaurant and Very expensive japanese restaurant. It is a short trip on the train to Kawsu where there are more options or a small beach shack serving local food during the day."
Saint Raphael Villa

"I really enjoyed my stay at Saint Raphael Villa. I’m a single traveler and the room was just perfect for me and had ever I needed. The room was really cute and cozy and I felt very comfortable there. I also appreciated the access to the kitchen to prepare meals and clean up my dishes. The location is very convenient, less than 10 minutes walk from the bus stop and the beach. There is a beautiful shrine about 10-15 minutes walk from the villa. The neighborhood is calm, safe and quiet."

"Located right across from the beach within a 5 minute walk from beach umbrella/chair rental. We arrived early. The front desk lady allowed us to check in at 2pm and offered beach towel for us to play on the beach while waiting for the room to be cleaned. There are two outdoor public hot spring tubs that can be locked for private party use, which was a plus at the end of the day. There were even Japanese bath robes for guests to use, a pleasant surprise. The owners also offered to pack us breakfast grab bags because we had to leave early to catch the train. The only complaint is I wish the pillow was more comfortable."
Atagawa Ocean Resort

"We loved our authentic Japanese vacation stay. Fireworks were a surprise we had not expected. Buffet had a large variety of choices although I am allergic to shrimp and do t like seafood so it limited me. I was still able to find enough to eat each day. Onsen was a new experience for us being Canadian but now we love it and will miss this relaxing ritual."

"We really enjoyed our Japanese style room with a private onsen. The beds were comfortable. It was fun getting to try out all of the amenities in the hotel, and the town of Shuzenji Onsen was lovely."

"Easy shuttle bus to and from Shimoda train station. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean spacious room. Clean swimming pool and onsen area. Easy access to the beach and 7 Eleven nearby."
