The hotel was mostly empty (traveling during COVID and the rainy season), so there weren’t many other people there. But the staff were super friendly, and when we checked in, not speaking any Japanese, they made sure to answer all of our questions.
A word of warning about the breakfast - if you like fish - you’ll be fine! I’m a vegetarian, so there wasn’t as much for me - but that being said, I had two bowls of rice, two fried eggs, two croissants ..! I was not hungry when we left. I was told that the coffee was bad, but not a coffee drinker myself, I didn’t notice. However, we only did the 1500+ yen breakfast once. The 7-11 at the bottom of the hill provided for the other breakfasts.
Beach access is very easy! You can even access the beach from 8-5 from the pool area. The shirahama beach is a short walk across the street (make sure you check on the shrine at the far end).
The pool was COLD in early July, but I’m sure it’ll heat up through the season.
The onsen was also lovely! Make sure you check out the outside one! (The showers in the rooms are … very old and basic so I recommend the onsen for the better water temperature and pressure!)
