Poor first impressions, but let hotel grow on you
Don't let the first impression be the final impression. We had a bad first impression. Our Uber from Gimpo Airport wasn't able to locate the place as navigation couldn't locate hotel. Stumbling with 4 luggages, we arrived at seemingly run-down building. The elevator had a foul smell. There was no partition in bathroom between shower and toilet. We couldn't find toilet soap. We were regretting it already, but it turned out to be one of our best hotels in the trip.
When I asked reception for toilet accessories, he accompanied me to the room to show where it is. It was next to TV in what looked like tea bags. But they have actual tea bags too. And kettle. And computer. The staff spoke better English than all our hotel staff in Japan. Room size was very reasonable and comes with a robotic entrance which is super cool. Breakfast (bread-eggs-butter-jam with soup- stuff you'd find in a US motel) was complimentary. There are weighing machines on every floor useful for checking bag size. For our return, we booked taxi to Incheon Airport through them at reasonable 70k KRW and the driver was very punctual, safe. The front-desk went above & beyond helping us get a taxi using their own app when Uber wouldn't match for us to go to palace. Room service was exceptional.
Location: very close to Myeongdong, Namdaemun. Use exit 1 Hoeyhoen Station, 3 minute walk. Install Kakao Maps.
Overall excellent service and will stay here again when return to Seoul.
