The room was rundown and in terrible condition. Mold all over ceiling in room and heating didn’t work and we froze. We got moved to a different room the next day and it was slightly better. Total of 5 nights and it was a struggle, beds were not comfortable and pillows flat as could be. Mirror in bath was broken and hair dryer didn’t work. Best I can say is location is awesome and good parking available. Room was cheap and rough shape.
Toilet wasn’t attached properly to floor and moved around. Bottom of mirror missing and hair dryer didn’t work.
Mold in 2nd room on handicap shower bench.
Bed was uncomfortable and pillows were worthless.

Perfect location. The place is cozy, clean, and modern. It’s close to the ocean, and you can hear the waves from the room. Parking is right by the units. I appreciated having a fridge and microwave. Everything was well kept. I’ll stay here again whenever I’m in between places in Central California. No AC. They did have a ceiling fan.

I had a problem with the WIFI but they made it right. This motel was very convenient to dining, shopping and transportation one blocknover on Chestnut St. I wouldn’t hesitate staying there again.

The hotel was in a great area. Although the room could use some updating, it was clean and safe. Staff was amazing. We left something behind and they were able to get it back to us. The only issue we had was figuring out how to turn on the shower.

Convenient and clean motel near Waterfront

I stay at the Surf motel many a visit to SF. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean with some updates like laminate floors. It is well situated near the Embarcadero waterfront in SF. Great location and some good food nearby. It is helpful to be able to park in their parking lot with a parking tag as a guest.

Clean, small room with good bed, fridge and microwave - no coffeemaker. Tricky keycard latch. Remodel is pretty good. Parking tight but great for us. Good location and surprisingly quiet. Windows were screwed shut so had to use door or AC for ventilation. Lighting on one side of the bed only. TV operation had a learning curve. Good shower/water pressure. Low key.

Our reservation was not recorded and they were sold out! The staff was amazing!! Can't say enough about how (Michael?) helped us thru the whole experience. Because of his help we were able to navigate the Expedia system and find rooms. Because of his efforts I would not hesitate to book there again.
