"Very clean! Comfy furniture in living room to read or watch TV. Lots of table space for eating or playing one of the games supplied. Kitchen has everything you might need to cook in or outside on the Blackstone grill. Bathrooms supply shampoo, body wash, towels, and hair dryer. Pleny of TP and paper towels. Also stacked washer/dryer with laundry supplies provided. Large back yard for kids to play, also nice porch swing and fire pit for the adults. Very close to lake, a few minute's drive. We had 8 adults for a long weekend. Beds , only 1 queen and 5 full, but we made do. Everyone agreed it was a good find!!"

"This house is wonderful. Truly the pictures do not do it justice! From the minute you step in the door, you are blown away! Perfectly cleaned, welcoming and so well decorated. A huge selection of snacks, coffee and tea. Comfortable beds and furniture and a well stocked kitchen. Outside a lovely wraparound porch, fenced in yard and great play/swingset. Was traveling with adults, small children and a well travel seasoned golden retriever. All thought this house was perfect. We loved our stay and will definitely book again. Host was lovely to work with. House is centrally located to many area attractions. I almost hate to share this with the world, but trust me- this house is exceptional! Not one negative to say."

"we enjoyed a peaceful two nights just after the new moon for dark skies and birding - and the cabin lives up to our expectations. Situated to take the most advantage of breathtaking views, i write this from the screen porch, while at least four species of hummingbirds buzz around the nectar feeders (Broad-billed, Broad-tailed, Black-chinned, Anna’s). A Blue Grosbeak was just here, and other members of the dawn chorus include Hooded Oriole, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Northern Mockingbird, White-throated Swift, Gambel’s Quail, White-winged Dove & more. Accommodations: this cabin just recently opened as of May, 2026, we are fortunate to be among the first to book a stay, and photos you see online are accurate - the cabin is surprisingly spacious, well-insulated, quiet and comfortable. Strategically oriented in line with summer/winter sun, the front porch remained shaded and comfortable all day for reading, birding, and visiting with friends who stoppedby. With AC and brand new mini-splits, cooling or heating the interior is instant and efficient. *Bonus* the screened porch has a fireplace, and cabin owners supplied bone-dry oak, so we relaxed with drinks by flickering fire light last night while listening to elf and screech owls softly hooting from their homes in nearby sycamore trees. Portal is a quiet, laid-back community and this new rental is a five star addition to rental options - with a full kitchen (full size fridge, spacious sink and prep spaces) — and, bonus, its a short walk to the nearby cafe - which has tasty burgers and entrees, full bar, and good beer on tap. Cafe hours are daily, but you should verify if that’s important to your stay here. Bedroom is ideal for anyone out late photographing the night sky or owling - with blackout curtains & well-insulated for quiet, allowing peaceful sleep. my rating: 👍👍and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️and i hope we’re here again soon!""
