If you want to go "relax," this is not the place to go.... at least not right now. We vacationed here in July 2019 and every single house around it had construction crews from dawn to dusk the whole week. If I could share pictures with my review I would to help protect future guests from what we experienced. We couldn't even enjoy our morning coffee without being bombarded with the sounds of dump trucks and hammers every five seconds.
The inside of the house had obviously been completely renovated after Hurricane Michael. The decor was nice (with the exception of the door curtains which fell off every time you opened/closed a door). The beds were very old and uncomfortable, and there was no hot water in the kitchen sink.
The yard had not been touched in months. Weeds up to my thighs, and ant piles every few feet. Since this wasn't a "beach front" property, we were hoping to at least enjoy a nice yard for the kids to play in between beach time(s) but it was so unkempt that it wasn't worth it.... and the road was occupied by tractors so it was unsafe for my children to ride their bikes. So it was either stay inside, go to the beach, or drive to PCB... those were our choices.
It is a VERY short walk to the beach, and I feel that by 2020 or 2021 this will be a very nice location to vacation (as far as the surrounding environment is concerned). But the owner definitely needs to give some attention to the curb appeal of the home as well as some updated mattresses for their guests.
The beach was very private, but because of the construction on Hwy 98 (which you have to cross over to get to the beach), there were MASSIVE ditches between the dunes and the road. And the sound of the waves crashing at the beach were drowned out by road construction sounds.
The "location issues" I mention are of course not at the fault of the owners of this property. For the hand they've been dealt from the hurricane, they've done well making the property welcoming (from the interior anyway). The tone of this review stems from the property manager (& in turn the advertising of the property) not being honest about the surroundings of the home at this point in time. It is not a pleasant place to vacation (right now) & I feel duped for having spent all this money on a property that made it seem like paradise during booking. I hope that the owners take this review seriously and understand "location honesty" is very important for online booking.
