「When I arrived, it was after front desk hours. My room key was attached to a name tag located on a shelf in front of the office check-in window. Unique, but it worked. The room was clean and functional. Breakfast was served buffet style. A "lake" across the street was almost not visible from the hotel. Parking in front of the building was adequate. Hotel is ok for a one-night stay. I felt it is a bit overpriced. The lovely town of Baden-Baden is nearby (driving distance).」

「Das Wichtigste vorab: Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt und würden wieder dort übernachten, falls wir noch einmal nach Idar-Oberstein kommen. Wenn es mit den Renovierungsarbeiten so weitergeht wie bislang, sind dann bestimmt auch 5 Sterne drin. Momentan wirkt manches noch ein wenig unausgegoren oder improvisiert. So schwankt man beim Erkunden des verwinkelten Gebäudes zwischen den Eindrücken "wie charmant!" und "Baustelle?" Es mag auch teilweise daran liegen, dass wir bei der sehr frühen Ankunft keine...

「Absolutely a gem. The hotel appears a bit aged, but like the owner - is in perfect shape. It is clean and comfortable. Huge windows, plenty of towels, big rooms, awesome parking, well stocked minibar, apples and candies at the front desk…the owner has his own hands on everything. It’s rare to find such a personal touch, but caring for this hotel and travelers is his life work and it shows. As weekend guests, we had the place largely to ourselves (occupied by mostly business travelers) - so...
