Lowther Cottage is a charming Grade II* listed terraced cottage in the Lake District National Park on the edge of the Lowther Castle Estate. This delightful workers cottage was built in the 1770s and is situated in a conservation village designed by the renowned architect Robert Adam for the 1st Earl of Lonsdale. One of a collection of pretty sandstone cottages set around lawned courtyards, the cottage has a listed status, and the charm and character of this historic property is retained and evident today. Lowther model village was said to have been built in order to move the original village and thus improve the view from Lowther Castle.
