The staff was very friendly and the yoga session conducted for us in the morning is very good. The yoga instructor makes a real effort to help us learn yoga. Food was nice and the rooms were clean. Overall, it is a great place to relax and spend a weekend. I would definitely return to this hotel again.

Not worth for the money

I had been looking forward to stay in this place for quite some time but my experience and expectations was so different. The atmosphere of the location is fantastic. The hotel is very old. Had a bad smell in the room which was so unpleasant and uncomfortable to breathe in. Not suitable for asthma and allergy sufferers. Air conditioner was not working properly. Not much facilities in the room to keep your belongings. Room was very small compared to other hotels around. Washroom doors were so hard to open and close and make huge noise. Sleep was so awful. The hotel is located in the Tamil speaking region but only singhalese were used to greet. Either they use English or use both the national language. The manager on every meeting starts his conversation in Singhalese. They need to treat both the national language equally or else use English. Overall it’s overpriced and not worth for the money. It’s expensive compared to other hotels around but not value for the money. I sincerely request the Hotels.com to review this place before applying the price. I was totally disappointed with the entire experience and stay at this place.

Superbe hôtel

Une nouvelle fois enchanté par ce nouveau séjour au Maalu Maalu que je connais déjà et pas seulement parce que j'ai été surclassé en suite Ocean. Jamais déçu par cet hôtel ou tout est fait pour satisfaire le client. L'accueil est chaleureux, la chambre est grande, confortable et très propre. Le personnel est très disponible et souriant. La piscine est grande et très propre, surveillée par une personne qui distribue également les serviettes de plage. Quant à la plage devant l'hôtel elle est magnifique, la mer est calme et à cette époque on peut s'y baigner sans aucun danger. En fonction du taux d'occupation, les repas et le petit déjeuner sont servis soit en buffet soit à la carte. Dans ce deuxième cas le choix est assez limité. Un hôtel que je recommande sincèrement.

Fantastisk ophold. Alt fungerer og det der ikke gør bliver bragt i orden. Fuld service af alt personalet, der er meget smilende og opmærksomme. Stedet har en restaurant på stranden, der serverer fantastisk nyfanget fisk og skaldyr. Tjenere og kokke er så dygtige og serverer lige hvad du beder om. Alt personalet arbejder hårdt og målrettet. Lacking of atmosphere. Expensive food/drink.

We felt that the place (in reality when get there), is a bit tired and getting worn down a bit. It's quite minimalist and sparse. The beach is lovely here though. They could do with revamping the pool area and having a nicer atmosphere. Pool is saltwater also. Not an issue for me, but might be for others. The place was deserted when we were there. Which was nice in some ways, but awkward in others. The service at meal times was pleasant, but a bit too fussy and always coming back and forth to the table and not letting you relax and have some peace and quiet. The beverages are quite expensive and so is the food. The buffet dinner was good though and a nice big selection. Which we felt terrible about, since it was just a few guests, with so much food prepared. The wifi in the place was very patchy and kept dropping out. Mostly with the in-room wifi. The bedroom itself was fairly small.and there was lack any plug sockets next to the bed. Which always annoys me and makes no sense. The bathroom was huge and clean. Although the bathroom and shower backed up to where alot of staff would chat and make noise. I was surprised that a lot of the staffs English was quite poor. Some simple requests and questions, were met with confusion. Overall, its friendly service for the most part. Restaurant staff are very nice. The place just needs something else added around the grounds of the pool to create a nicer feel.

Great resort with beautiful views

Beautiful resort and location. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is stunning. Rooms are comfortable although starting to feel a bit dated. The bathroom is huge, very clean with a large shower. Only thing to keep in mind is that the ocean gets a bit rough in December and when we were there the beach was closed therefore the pool became very crowded. We were told best time to go is May-August.

Great resort and location

Great place. Stayed here for three nights in total. Food is really good with wide selection to suit all diets and tastes. Right on the beach and huge vanishing pool surround by lounges and the villas it's not overcrowded or on top of each other.

Das Hotel ist ein Paradies für Liebhaber schöner Strände, denen das Fehlen eines Dorflebens egal ist, denn in der Umgebung befinden sich nur Strandresorts. Wenn auch die Bevölkerung der Gegend keine Ahnung von den Wünschen der Touristen hat, lässt das Hotel selbst keine Wünsche offen.

Excellent hotel boutique pour un séjour plage

Accueil très chaleureux avec collier de fleurs, glace sorbet et serviette fraiche très agréables. Une corbeille de fruits dans la chambre. Chambre spacieuse située à l'étage, très propre avec climatisation paraissant neuve, très efficace et silencieuse. La terrasse par laquelle on accède à la chambre est grande et très agréable. Deux bouteilles d'eau sont fournies chaque jour. TV mais pas de chaine en français. Le WIFI est bon avec quelques difficultés pour se connecter en périodes de pointe. Restaurant ouvert très agréable. Petit-déjeuner en buffet très bien avec des jus de fruits frais. Diner buffet ou à la carte, au choix. Je n'ai pris que des buffets (2500 LKR), le choix étant suffisant mais avec peu de plats occidentaux. Piscine et plage avec transats et parasols, très propres. L'hôtel est idéalement situé au milieu de la baie de Passikudah et la mer est sans danger à cette époque de l'année. Si vous restez un certain nombre de nuits, un diner de fruits de mer sur la plage vous est offert et il m'a été remis un mug de l'hôtel en cadeau souvenir lors de mon départ. Tout le personnel, sans exception, est compétent, disponible, souriant, agréable et près à satisfaire toutes vos demandes. Seul petit bémol, la chambre qui a été parfois refaite que l'après midi. Un excellent séjour à Maalu Maalu pour moi et c'est avec beaucoup de plaisir que j'y retournerai d'autant que le rapport qualité/prix est également très bon.

Beautiful beach hotel

Room was gorgeous with amazing bathroom. Hotel is located right on a stunning beach with beautiful sand. No problems getting sun loungers. Hotel reception very helpful at arranging snorkelling for us. Maalu Maalu is beside a lot of other hotels along the beach but when we wandered along the beach this was our favourite. I would definitely stay here at Maalu Maalu again and highly recommend.

Wohlfühl-Resort an paradiesischem Strand

In der hübschen Lobby wird man erstmal freundlich begrüßt. Danach zeigen sie einem den hübschen Bungalow mit grossem Wohnraum. Am Tag kann man den riesigen Pool, den wunderschönen Strand und ein Mittagessen im coolen Beach-Restaurant genießen. Ebenso empfehlenswert ist am Nachmittag einen Papaya-Milkshake zu trinken... The checkin was very slow & inefficient. The hotel was not aware of my request for twin share room. They had to put a single bed into a room with an existing double bed. Our room was downstairs which was fine, but the occupants staying upstairs had small children who woke up early around 5 am and ran around their room & made a lot of noise. There was no soundproofing of the rooms. The other really big disappointing issue was the wifi. It was not only very difficult to connect in the rooms but also difficult in the lobby and other common areas. Overall although the hotel was in a beautiful location, the facilities & lack of wifi made our stay not enjoyable.
