We are located in the best neighborhood of the old town, full of restaurants, coffee shops and monuments all within walking distance. The Foresteria della Cattedrale is an apartment with all amenities, quiet and private despite being in the heart of the nightlife district. All services are included, and the bathrooms and kitchen were recently renovated in March 2024 with handmade Sicilian artistic majolica tiles.
The apartment is located on the first floor of an ancient medieval noble palace, Palazzo Mango di Casalgerardo, where the famous sicilian sculptor Antonello Gagini lived and had his workshop at the beginning of the 16th century. The building was renovated in the second half of the 16th century, as can be seen from the entrance facade, and then “modernized” again at the end of the 18th century in neoclassical style, which has remained to this day on the facade facing the main street. Many historical figures lived on the second floor, the main floor of this Palazzo, the most famous of whom was the statesman and former Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Italy, Francesco Crispi, commemorated by a large plaque on the main façade of the building in Via Vittorio Emanuele.
The apartment we rent has a characteristic medieval layout, with rooms arranged around a small private central courtyard that provides light for the interior rooms. Furnished with charm and equipped with all amenities, the base price is for 2 people. The price includes heating, air conditioning, fast Wi-Fi internet connection, washing machine, television, microwave oven, toaster, hairdryer, soap and detergents, bed linen, and towels. Each guest is provided with 1 set of bed linen and 1 set of towels per week, including: bath towel, hand towel, bidet towel, and washcloth. Room service is not included. The apartment is approximately 120 square meters in size: it is accessed by climbing 2 flights of Carrara marble stairs (23 steps in total); after the front door, there are another 7 steps down. There is a spacious living room with a large sofa, a dining room, a TV lounge with a sofa, a bedroom with a double bed, 2 bedrooms with two twin beds, one large and one small; a beautiful independent kitchen equipped with all amenities, with a table and a small balcony, two comfortable and beautiful bathrooms with bathtub, shower, and bidet, recently renovated. It is mandatory to agree on the arrival time in advance. Only guests who are respectful of the premises and not noisy are accepted; final cleaning fees and a deposit are required.
There is no elevator. To access the apartment, there are two flights of stairs with a total of 23 steps, plus seven steps at the entrance. The apartment is not suitable for people with mobility issues.
Your safety is important to us: we offer external video surveillance, an external night light on the street, lights on in the condominium areas at night, a video intercom, and a security lock. It is mandatory to turn off the lights and all electrical appliances, including air conditioners, when leaving the house. Contribution for electricity consumption over 10Kw/day for stays of 4 days or more: €1 per kw. Electricity consumption is recorded on arrival and departure. At check-in, we will ask you to provide your identity card/passport details for the police declaration. Cleaning fees to be paid in cash upon arrival: €70 for up to 4 people or €100 for 5 people or more. City tax to be paid in cash upon arrival: €4 per person per night for up to 4 nights and for guests aged 12 and over. Check-in until 10 p.m., no check-in at night. A supplement of €20 per hour may be required for delays after 10 p.m., to be agreed with the property. Prices are for 2 guests per room; single occupancy rooms are available at a cost of €10 per night. For children up to 2 years old, a cot is available at a cost of €10 per night. Children over 2 years old are charged the normal adult rate.
Rates and conditions are valid only for stays of up to 2 weeks. Discounts are available on request for stays longer than 2 weeks. A gas consumption fee of €2 per cubic meter applies for long stays in winter. Special conditions and offers are available for long stays. Cleaning, meals and beverage service are not included.
