Slightly elevated above the sea, nestled behind two windswept trees and surrounded by pastures of wild horses and Highland cattle, the fisherman's cottage stands completely alone amidst the unspoiled nature of the Geltinger Birk nature reserve. This thatched cottage was once inhabited by fishermen. Before the Beveroer Noers was diked in 1820, it was used to transport milk from the cattle grazing in the Birk to Nordschau. Later, the renowned Lutheran theologian and politician Martin Pörksen and his wife and their 13 children made it their home. For many years now, the fisherman's cottage has served as a holiday home. During renovations, the historic character that gives this house its unique charm was preserved. Original elements of the stable and some historic doors bear witness to the cottage's history.
