「Cottage is in a good position overlooking the river and what is really good is the secure rear garden for letting our dogs out, a terrier and an escape artist aka a beagle.
The cottage had everything we required and was clean, comfortable and had a great shower.」

「This is a cracking flat within a short walk of Dumfries town centre. From the outside, the flats don’t look too inspiring, but it’s clearly been renovated recently and it’s been done really nicely. The two rooms are pretty much identical doubles, and the living room/kitchen is a good size. Nice views of the river from most rooms, and a lovely small balcony coming off the main living area. Would definitely come back if in the area.」

「Well appointed with all the amenities we could want, and more. Spotless throughout, plus a very comfortable bed. The most beautiful setting in a storybook village!
I came here to see and experience where my great grandmother was born, and was overwhelmed with the beauty of this very special place!
I will never forget Rowan Cottage and Wanlockhead!!

「Property well presented with every thing you would require for your stay. Disappointed that although stated there was a garden there was no secure outside space. As I had stated that I would be bringing a dog this was an important factor on booking for me. I think the lack of garden should be made clear on your site.」

「A lovely county castle surrounded by Belted Galloway cattle and sheep. The castle grounds have a fruit trees, herbs and vegetables. Tobias is truly a wonderful gentleman and host. He prepared an amazing breakfast both mornings which consisted of local flavors ( haggis, blood pudding, potato cakes, eggs, bacon and sausage). Tobias gave us a tour of the chapel and grand hall with interesting history. Baron James prepared a formal dinner which was also delicious. We are Maxwell descendants by DNA...
