3 Bedroom Cottage in Wanlockhead Dumfriesshire

No. 3 Dialknowe Holiday Cottage, at first glance is an unassuming holiday cottage sleeping up to 6 people over 3 bedrooms. It's welcoming and comfortable but what really makes it stand out is the location in the heart of Wanlockhead, Scotland's Highest village, which is only 6 miles from the M74 and only 1 hour from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle. Fantastic views, breath-taking walks which will leave you deeply envious of the locals. Wanlockhead is also part of the SWC 300.
Inside the cottage there is a comfortable and cosy space which provides the ideal home away from home.

A living room with Smart TV is on the ground floor.

Within the kitchen, also on the ground floor, there is all you would need to prepare meals after a day’s exploring and enjoying your surroundings.

There are 3 bedrooms in the cottage. Two on the ground floor which sleeps two in each double room, whilst the bedroom on the upper floor has a double bed.

The bathroom with the over bath shower is downstairs. This cottage is ideally suited more towards families.

Great base for exploring local area

We had a lovely stay at this cottage with our 2 kids. Cottage was well stocked with essentials and a nice hot shower. Walks straight from the front door, kids loved exploring the old mining valley.

To Be Avoided

There were issues with obtaining the checkin details in a timely manner. Property only superficially clean set in a not very pleasant location with an appalling access road. The boiler was extremely smelly and there were no instructions for the heating. Towels were totally inadequate in this day and age.

Holiday cottage

Had a lovely time even though it rained didn’t stop us doing things….. They only things I could fault was no mirror in the bathroom…… plus I didn’t think equipment wise the kitchen was equipped for 4 people…..Plus no manuals on how to work the washer/dryer plus microwave…..Also in the other twelve cottages we have stayed in they have always had basic stuff ….. ie salt pepper there was nothing except washing liquid ….. regards Danny

A Very Comfortable Overnight Stay

Having stayed in Wanlockhead for a week at the end of June 2021, this property seemed like an ideal overnight stay during a house move from the the South Coast to Aberdeen. Within easy distance of the M74 and very peaceful. Loved the bold décor. Excellent nights rest , the downstairs bed was very comfortable and the property spotlessly clean.
