Just stayed one night with my family and we didn’t want to leave. The house is over 100 years old but has modern conveniences and was very clean and comfortable. The futon beds were perfect. The AC was strong. And best of all was the food. Dinner was a 12-13 course omakase with fish we’ve never tasted, like blowfish. The breakfast was amazing (I chose the Japanese style) and the lady that prepared it (and checked me in) was super nice and accommodating. The tubs were great to soak in and it was nice to have the privacy (the bath room smelled a little mildewy, but that’s to be expected in a wooden room with high humidity). I Would definitely stay again.

The location is ideal as it is directly across the street from the ferry. The shopping street and the famous Itsukushima Shrine is just a short walk away. I stayed in a room that had the bed in an upstairs loft. Things to consider if you book this room are the stairs are pretty steep and it’s not a small flight of stairs. Coming from the US and wanting to experience a Japanese style hotel, we thought that this would be a nice one to try. We were planning to spend one night in Hiroshima and visit Miyajima as well. The location and the fact that this hotel hotel has private bathrooms were key factors in our choice (communal bathrooms aren't for us). From the outside, this looks like an ordinary hotel. When you enter, the staff has slippers laid out for you and they store your shoes. You wear the slippers...

The staff were wonderful and the hotel was clean and very convenient. The public bath was great. My mother said, if the room we stayed in had a kitchen she could live there.

Staff was helpful. Stay was fun. Didn’t use there dining services- would consider next time due to limited options available at the time.

Located front of the port to take ferry to Miyajima island, very close to transportation station. Breakfast was good. Town restaurants close early. Helpful & friendly staff.

The service at this hotel was beyond excellent. They did a great job of accommodating our dietary needs even though we did not think to write ahead (if you have restrictions you should). During check out, we forgot to pack our daughters journal, they called the driver that took us to the ferry and sent an extra shuttle to the ferry terminal to deliver it a few minutes later. The baths are large, fantastic and not particularly busy when we used them.
