"Staying at La Anita Rainforest Ranch was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We stayed for three nights and had an incredible experience. The hospitality of Pablo and Anna are unmatched; we felt so welcome and taken care of during our stay. The food was phenomenal, with a menu of fresh local foods that changed daily. Everything was very clean and taken care of. The property offers plenty to explore, and the lack of WiFi in the cabins makes it easy to unplug and enjoy the company of your...

"This place was once someone's dream. You can tell they initially put a lot of work and effort into building it. However, as time has passed, this place has fallen into disrepair. The one highlight is that the room was pretty clean. "

"This was our favorite place to stay as a family! We have 3 children (ages 11,14,16), and we loved staying in this beautiful, quaint little house in the most beautiful garden setting. It's just 30 minutes from Rio Celeste, and about an hour from Liberia airport, so it's in a great location. The family who owns this place is extremely kind and friendly, and they made us feel very welcome! The best part was the homemade delicious breakfast they made for us in the morning (complete with hot cocoa...

"Absolutely everything! Mei Tai is an incredible gem in Costa Rica that should be visited by all tourists who are caring and thoughtful enough to recognize what Costa Rica is all about. Cecile and her family go out of their way to make your experience incredibly comfortable and relaxing. She takes the time from the moment you drive onto the property to personalize your stay. The piece of advice we have is listen to absolutely everything that she says. Bijauga is relatively untouched by tourists...

"Simply wonderful!! Great location, beautiful scenery with lots of toucans and other birds on the property. The villas are brand new, very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and varied. Nilla and Stéphane were extremely attentive and friendly and had great recommendations for activities in the Bijuagua region. A real gem."

"Place was serene. Beautiful grounds and a lovely room. Saw a sloth, howler monkeys and toucans on grounds. Staff and owners seemed very generous with their time. Breakfast was a treat. Would go back there just to go back there. Could not have been much nicer!

"One of our best accomodation in Costa Rica so far. Very clean, confortable and quiet. The only con is that the road that bring you here is is not asphalted and take quite a long time."

"I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order breakfast. Finally, if you're a gym rat like me, there's a gym that's $5/day to drop in that's a 3 minute walk from Kakao Lodge. We were also fortunate enough to be there while the owner, Laura, was there. Her and her husband are delightful people if you're lucky enough to get to meet them as well.
If you want to experience the rainforest of Costa Rica while still having a comfy bed to go back to at night, I can't say enough for staying here. "
"Only compliments can me made. Cabins are so pretty, food is amazing. On top of it is the warm welcome and highest quality of service you get anytime "
"The staff is great! It was a wonderful stay close to so many places; coffee, caña and chocolate tour; sloth tour. Town is very close and close to so many authentic restaurants. Just bring your own shampoos. "
"The villa is just as described and the location is cool. We spent days exploring the area, late afternoons cooling off in the pool and evenings watching the sunset. The walk down to the river is easy and we spent an afternoon hanging out there and swimming in the water. As others have said, there is still a lot of construction happening on the property and when complete the place will be fantastic. For now, there are no other amenities like a restaurant or spa on site but they are building it.Some amenities we felt were lacking in the villa were a place to hang clothes or a dresser to unpack any luggage. So, while staying there you will be living out of your bags, literally. Another item that would have been nice was an umbrella or some sort of shade during the afternoons. The deck and pool face west which makes for great sunsets but the afternoon sun/heat can be quite extreme with no shade available. There are trees around the pool and back patio but are too small yet to provide any shade. Finally, the only seating in the villa are some dining chairs and some deck loungers. There are no padded chairs in the bedrooms or the the kitchen area where we could relax. There is no living room just the two bedrooms w/bathrooms and a kitchen so hanging out as a group happens outside or in the kitchen. Not the end of the world, and the listing is accurate for amenities and rooms but an area to hang out inside on some comfortable seating would be nice.Orlando, the manager is great"
