‼Travelers Beware‼Our experience with this host was very disappointing. I would give zero stars if possible. I paid on Friday and reached out immediately but received no response until Tuesday, when I was asked to provide documentation for my service dog. For clarity, under federal law hosts may only ask if an animal is a service animal and what task it performs—documentation cannot be required.That same day, a family emergency arose and I asked about canceling our reservation. Unfortunately, my message was ignored. By Thursday—less than 24 hours before check-in—I still had not received instructions. VRBO contacted the host directly, and only then did she respond, admitting she had read my messages but chose not to reply. A simple “sorry, cancellation is not possible” would have been far more professional.She also requested our vehicle information but withheld check-in instructions until the last moment. Ultimately, we received them at 12:30pm for a 3:30pm check-in, despite having a seven-hour drive.Clear, timely communication is essential for a positive travel experience. Sadly, this was not the case here.

Not as many beds as advertised!! Very disappointed to be shorted a bed for our family. How is someone supposed to sleep on a 3 ft settee? Description said this is a pull out futon. Wrong. At least the other “pull out” was long enough to lay on… But also NOT a pull out!! Aside from that lie, this whole place is lipstick on a pig, If we can even call it that. Dirty walls, dead bugs, stained and peeling tub (kids were literally scared of it). Missing outlet and vent covers. Bedroom doors that don’t close and others that require force to open!We arrived after sundown and it was near impossible to find the lockbox with the riddle of a location description the owner gave us. Also… multi unit properties should have addresses clearly marked, it was confusing to not be able to enter the address we thought we were staying at! Thanks for the roof over our heads for the night, because that’s about all it was.

Could use a few updates

We were a bit disappointed in the apartment. We are pretty easy going about VRBO’s in general and don’t expect perfection but there were a lot of things that did interfere with our stay. We offer these comments as suggestions to our host in a kind way. There are not many amenities, we were given 3 bath towels for five guests, my son had to dry off with some pillow cases. There was no Kleenex, no salt, no bath liquid soap, or blow dryer so, if you stay here, bring your own. The toilet paper roll sits on the back of the toilet tank, no holder for it, which was awkward. Smaller beds were uncomfortable, the one in the master was fine. Everything is quite worn in the apartment. The front door to the entry stairs does not open all the way so it was hard to get out cooled and larger suitcase in. The good things:There was shampoo, conditioner, cleaning items in the kitchen, plates and cooking pans. It’s a safe neighborhood, very convenient to walk to restaurants, bars, Walgreens. It’s right across from the state fairgrounds and a twenty minute drive from Summerfest/downtown Milwaukee. The neighborhood was quiet and we had no trouble finding parking. I think with some changes this could be a nice place.

Not as advertised - be wary

Our worst rental property experience. The property is listed as a house, but it is actually the upstairs apartment of a duplex. It is listed as having 8 spaces for sleeping, but it only has beds for 4 people as it does not have the two futons in living room. The dining area only had seats for 3 people. The rental could not be secured as the sliding glass door did not have a lock. There was a safety issue with a missing outlet cover in the kitchen behind the microwave. The bathtub paint was peeling off as well. There is a hole in the wall by the front door. The front door only opens halfway because it gets stuck on the flooring. The advertised laundry was in the basement in a shared space with the other apartment. There is also not good sound insulation between the apartments as the downstairs neighbor's party kept us up until 2:30am. The host did not have the party stopped after being notified multiple times. Police came also and did not stop the party. There was nothing charming about staying in this rental.

Not a Good Experience

Communication with the owner was poor and the property did not match the listing. Had to request check-in details. When my family arrived the lock box was open and there was no key. Took an hour and a lot of defensiveness from the owner to get in. Then the next day the code was reset and we were locked out for another hour because she forgot to send us the new code. Once inside there were not enough beds for 6 adults (listing showed 1 queen, 2 singles and 2 futons - enough to sleep 8) there were no futons. Had to buy an air mattress, sheets, blankets. The twin beds have very thin coil mattresses and you could feel the bars of the bedframe. Asked for wifi password multiple times with no response. This was a duplex with upstairs and downstairs units. We were never told it was a duplex or that we would be in an upstairs unit. My mother has a hard time with stairs and we would have found another property. The owner rented the lower unit to 4 couples in Milwaukee attending the Brewers game. Had to listen to their partying all night through the floor. This owner is not interested in honesty or providing a good experience. The only positive was that the house was clean (except for the enamel peeling off the tub).

Perfect for two days at the State Fair

My son and his wife and four children, ages 1-8, and I were thrilled to have a clean, spacious location right across the street from one of the fair grounds gate. It was clean, and had everything we needed to relax after a day at the Wisconsin State Fair!
