Riverfront Cabin! Farm, Kayaks & Trail (BB)
Authentic yet modern log cabin nestled by the Shenandoah River in Luray, Virginia on our hobby farm. Over 800 5-star reviews! Remote workers` paradise! Acres of private riverfront. Use our water equipment and walk the trail. Cozy up next to the wood-burning fireplace in the winter. Easy drive to the Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, George Washington National Forest, Massanutten or Bryce Resorts for skiing, and much more. Fresh farm eggs and firewood sold on site.
You will be staying at our Buffalo Bill cabin, and it is perfect for two families or a large group of friends. This historic, nineteenth century, pioneer style cabin features hand hewn logs, paintings from the original owner, country kitchen, wood-burning stone fireplace, and personal touches. The cabin was lovingly relocated and nestled on 16 acres in an idyllic setting along the bank of the Shenandoah River. Enjoy morning coffee on the large front porch while you watch the beauty of the mountains and river unfold. Spend the day canoeing, kayaking, tubing, or fishing right outside the cabin and the evening catching fireflies, roasting marshmallows over a campfire, grilling, playing board games, or sipping spirits by the river. Enjoy the cozy living room wood burning fireplace. There are three bedrooms, two with king beds and one with a full and three twins on the third floor. Note the third floor is accessible via the second bedroom; a `hidden` attic making this fun for kids. There are also plenty of toys on the third floor for added bonus!
Note we have three private cabins on the property. Each cabin has its own campfire pit and grill.
Our Annie Oakley dock is great for launching kayaks or canoes or just fishing and hanging out. Walk our Lewis and Clark trail to enjoy wildlife and river views. Let the little ones wade into the river and splash around at Pocahontas Point.
**Fireplace Closed April 1 to October 31**
Riverfront Pioneer Cabins, LLC is a licensed rental. Nightly rate includes state and county lodging taxes.
FIRM NO PETS POLICY (for safety reasons, this includes service animals). Animal lovers welcome, however! This is a hobby farm, and we have other free-roaming pets on the property...dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and honeybees. Co-mingling animals could be disastrous to our livestock and your pet.
On site is a mile long trail that loops around the property. You have access to plenty of water equipment: tubes, kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes...enough water equipment for all guests to enjoy. We have many adult life vests as well and four youth vests. You can access the river directly from our pier. There is a firepit next to the cabin and one down by the pier next to the river.
The cabin is minutes from the Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest hiking trails. About a ten-minute drive away are shops perfect for antiquing, the Luray Caverns, an adorable movie theater, restaurants, zip lining adventure, animal rescue zoo, distillery, golf course, brewery, vineyard, and the Luray Caverns. We are also within an easy and scenic drive to area wineries and Massanutten and Bryce ski resorts. See our Guidebook for more places to visit!
While we hope you spend most of your time outdoors, we do have a TV, DVDs, Roku, and board games. Lots of toys/games for children; perfect detox for them to unplug! Remote workers (and kids) will enjoy our fast internet!

Great value for unique rural riverfront experience
Photos and descriptions are very accurate.. The set up is such that you have privacy yet plenty of open space in the meadow. The river amenities, kayaks and canoes are a huge added value. Great place for a family retreat.
This property not only has a great location on the river with some deeper water, but the kayak/rafts/paddle boards to enjoy. Home was great with wonderful patio and enjoyed cooking right on the fire.
Only note, need to be able to lug kayak/paddle boards.
Nature was great (otters/fish/beaver?)
The Buffalo Bill Cabin was perfect for our two day stay! We traveled to take some family photos and with it being this beautiful time of year, a lot of places were unavailable. Riverfront Pioneer Cabins were the perfect spot for us. We were close enough to Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive to still get our pictures, plus stay in a historical cabin nestled in the quiet woods with a personal fire pit. Jennifer (host) was an incredible communicator and I was confident that I could reach out to her with any questions or concerns. But she provided a thorough house manual a bit before we arrived, and this went over all of the details that we needed. This trip will absolutely go down in the memory book for us! I highly recommend Riverfront Pioneer Cabins for your stay in Luray, VA. Thank you, Jennifer and family for providing such a wonderful space!
I took my boys (6&3) for a few days on the river to unplug from the hectic world and connect just the three of us. We enjoyed the nature walk, the boat landing just up the river, canoe trips and fishing. My boys were so tired from all the fun they had; bedtime was over before their stories were! I can't wait to do the trip with them again!
The perfect rustic cabin for a fall family vacation, it reminded me of The Holiday movie, but in pioneer days! Grandparents, adult couple and kids stayed here very comfortably. Upstairs loft was a fun hideaway for the kids, private rooms, full kitchen, comfy gathering area and warm fire. Hosts were kind and quick to respond, kayaks were a fun experience and cabin is close enough to Luray caverns, Walmart and restaurants. The pair of cats (outdoor) were preciously affectionate. Great memories!
Our extended family of six loved our stay at the Buffalo Bill cabin. The cabin was wonderfully cozy and the location absolutely perfect for visiting Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. Jennifer and Ian were fantastic hosts. We're already thinking about coming back in the summer!

Veteran Weekend
My company had a terrific weekend entertaining some wounded veterans from Freedom hunters. The management of this property is terrific and extremely easy to work with. I look forward to many more veteran outings using their location for lodging.
Four Generations, One Cabin — Shenandoah 2025Tucked away in the quiet beauty of the Shenandoah, our cabin became a gathering place for four generations: great-grandparents, grandparents, son, and grandson. It was more than a getaway—it was a celebration of family, legacy, and the simple joys of being together. We shared meals, stories, and hikes through the woods. But one moment stood out: canoeing on the river, where the youngest among us caught his very first bass. His grin said it all—pure pride, pure joy. That fish might’ve been small, but the memory was huge. From the wisdom of the elders to the wonder in a child’s eyes, this trip reminded us that time spent together is the greatest catch of all!
