The apartment views are as fabulous as the photographs depict. It is among the highest places in the entire city; there is no point seeking other venues to see a great view...you will have the best from every room in the apartment, and the wonderful terraces.
However...the trade off for those views and what they, unfortunately, don’t tell you (even after we pointedly asked about transportation access) is that the Alfama is restricted access (where the apartment is located is barred by bollards to those who don’t have passcode/card access). Worse, even those with access either can’t find the apartment or won’t drive there. Don’t count on ANY Uber service and very limited taxi service and, then, only to the castle, which is several hundred yards down steep cobblestone streets from the apartment. It is especially problematic going to and from the airport; you will have to drag your luggage up and down the cobblestone to the apartment. Keep in mind: if you don’t want to or are physically unable to hike EVERY TIME you want to go anywhere, you will not be happy. You will spend a LOT of time waiting for taxi service and having to go to it rather than it coming to you.
Finally, the interior of the apartment is trending toward run down...especially the living room (tired, worn upholstery;cheap furnishings) and the second bath (poor water pressure, broken faucetry in the shower.)
Could be great; unfortunately, it wasn’t.
