Arranged for early check in. Facilitator with Guest Ready was 15 mins late. Cleaning staff arrived at 3pm as we were waiting. Once inside, discovered previous guests still had their belongings there, and a set of keys. Check in is normally 4pm. We lost 2 hrs waiting for the unit to be cleaned and then for the previous nights guests to come get their belongings and give us their keys. Upon speaking with them, it was entirely a Guest ready error and they'd been getting treated very poorly by this company ( their unit the night before, Guest ready could not find their keys, so they got put up in our place. Then told no one was checking in on the 5th and they could keep their things there. Then they got a panic call to return to the apartment immediately to get their things and to leave). Messed up their day too. Guest ready assured us we would get a refund for the mix up. Off we then went for a few groceries, purchased coffee pods for the coffee maker. Next morning when getting breakfast ready, coffee maker wasn't working and leaking water. Once again messaged Guest ready and they said they would compensate us. All I really wanted was for them to send the facilitator back with a working one. I didn't think that would be so hard when we would be there 10 days. Apparently not. They refunded us 30 euro. Both for having bought coffee pods for no apparent reason, and for the check in debacle.
Alfama is a great area. We loved the neighborhood. But it was noisy at night- with no AC, just be cognizant of the noise with the windows open. The curtain in the main bedroom should be replaced, and with a room darkening one. Bathroom also needs a major face-lift, but otherwise everything was as advertised. There is also a soup kitchen right next door, although we experienced zero issues, be prepared to see vagrants and the homeless queueing there, and then loitering all over the steps of the pantheon ( as the steps are seen in the puctures).
For future vacations, we will avoid properties that are managed by Guest ready. We were dissapointed by their response to our concerns.
