Seikiro Ryokan Historical Museum Hotel

"This is a beautiful inn at which to stay. It was incredibly convenient for access to downtown Miyazu and was only a short walk from the train station. The meals were included in the affordable price and were unquestionably the highlight. The cooking was incredible and provided the opportunity to experience traditional Japanese cooking while saving money on dining. Although the bathroom facilities were dated (1960s or 1970s), the rooms were beautiful, traditional Japanese rooms. The futon sleeping can be difficult for foreign travelers who are unaccustomed to sleeping on tatami, but I would recommend staying here for at least one to two nights if you want to truly experience Japanese culture and hospitality."

"I really enjoyed my stay here. You can tell they put a lot of thought into designing a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The ocean view from the room and balcony was great for sunsets. The staff were friendly and helpful, I got a booklet in English with all important information which was very useful. The beach is very nice but it was a bit dirty when I visited, which is not the fault of the hotel. I had a very relaxing stay and would love to come back."

"The cleanliness and quality of the room were impeccable, and I had no complaints in that regard. However, I feel there is room for improvement when it comes to the level of amenities provided. Only the basic essentials, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and towels, were available. Additional amenities like cotton pads and combs were not provided. The hotel’s facilities were also quite limited, with no swimming pool or gym, and only two laundromat machines available. I had also mentioned that I was celebrating my birthday during my stay. While I appreciated the printed birthday card, I was expecting a little more from Marriott in terms of a special touch or gesture for the occasion."

"The view was amazing and the property could not be beat! The staff was so kind, the village is right on the beach, the restaurant is delicious and the bar is outstanding. Truly worth visiting just to stay here. So amazing!"

"Hideo and Yuka were wonderful hosts. Hideo is a great guide and very easy to talk to. The authentic Thatch home was both beautiful and comfortable. We enjoyed having coffee every morning while looking out the large windows at the cherry blossum trees. Very nice location away from all the people in Kyoto. Easy 1hr bus ride into Kyoto city. They have a friendly Golden Retriever and a French Bulldog to play with if you like dogs! The Fishmarket excursion was fun and unique with Hideo helping select fish, and Yuka preparing the food (She's a Michilen Star Sous Chef). Hideo also took us to see peaceful shrines, an ocean view atop a mountain and the scenic old Thatch village. Thank you Hideo and Yuka for the 5 Star stay and all the great memories! "
